About me

Do you find that you compare yourself to others and worry what they might think of you? Or have you ever asked yourself the question, “why do I feel that I don’t fit in?” Do you recognise a pattern of wanting to please others, find yourself saying yes to things when really you want to say no? Have you struggled with the question, “who am I?” Sometimes we can find ourselves wearing different masks for different situations, again coming back to wanting to please everyone. But that’s when our authentic self gets lost and we lose the sense of who we really are. Do you feel guilty or not good enough, put yourself down or struggle with self doubt?

At times, life can present us with many of these challenges which can result in causing low mood, stress, anxiety, depression, relationship or work issues and loss or lack of meaning to life to name but a few. We can experience feelings of overwhelm, guilt, not feeling good enough or struggle with self doubt, causing a big impact on our life.

Counselling gives you the opportunity to delve into different areas of your life. It provides you the space to explore, process and resolve these issues, to help you feel more confident in understanding and communicating your feelings and getting your needs met. This leads to more fulfilling relationships.

I can help you understand the origins of and then challenge your critical thoughts. Explore with you reasons why you feel you must please others, help you to find an answer to the question ‘who am I?’ I can encourage you to show kindness and compassion to yourself and to let go of any guilt you may be carrying unnecessarily.

Over the years I have worked with many issues which have included; relationship concerns, loss and bereavement, loss of identity, low self esteem, anxiety and childhood trauma. More recently I have been learning and understanding more about menopause and how this life transition can affect mental health. I can help you understand and work through the many changes associated with menopause to help you gain acceptance and clarity during a sometimes emotional and challenging time.

I am a qualified, integrative counsellor working in the area of Stifford Clays, Essex.  I am a member of the BACP and work within their Ethical Framework. My hope as a counsellor is to offer you a comfortable and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions in a safe, non-judgemental way so that you will feel at ease to talk about whatever is concerning you.  I work with different approaches and techniques which suit you as an individual and believe the therapeutic relationship is of utmost importance. I see my role as your counsellor as walking with you on your journey as you discover how you would like your life to be.  I will work hard to listen and understand how you experience your feelings with empathy and without judgement or criticism.

Further information

The decision to speak to a counsellor is the first positive step towards improving your life and well being.  I offer a free initial 30minute assessment where you will have the opportunity to give me an insight into what is bringing you, how you are in your day to day life and your expectations of therapy.  The prospect of counselling can often feel quite daunting for some so it is important that you find a counsellor who feels right for you. Your 30 minute assessment will be a good opportunity for you to decide if you would like to make another appointment and whether or not I am the right counsellor for you. Should we decide to continue working together, sessions would be on the same day at the same time each week.

Please feel free to contact me by phone, text or email if you would like to book an assessment session.  If I am unable to take your call, please leave a message stating if you would like me to return your call or if you would like me to respond to your message by text.  I will endeavour to get back to you within 24 hours.
