About me

Hello, I’m Claire a qualified counsellor working in Lincoln... how are you feeling today?

I know this can sometimes be a difficult question to answer honestly for all sorts of reasons – maybe you are struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, having difficulties with relationships or looking for some support with other issues and aren't sure where to turn or who to talk to.

Perhaps if you have been thinking about whether counselling could help - maybe now is the right time for you to get in touch? Please take a moment to read about the support I can offer..

I have appointments currently available and I’m experienced in working with a wide range of issues including anxiety, panic attacks, depression, and relationship difficulties.

You will usually have a reply from me within 24 hours of getting in contact - if you do not receive a response please check your spam folder as emails do end up there sometimes!

**As a result of the Covid-19 outbreak, I am now offering support via online sessions for those who would prefer this - please get in touch or visit CeGCounselling.co.uk for more information. As of 13th July 2020 face to face sessions will also resume with safety measures in place to mitigate any risk**

Free consultation

If you want to find out more, I offer initial 30 minute 'nothing to lose' consultation appointments free of charge (or a telephone consultation of approx. 15 mins for online working) so we can get to know one other and you can get an idea of whether my approach may be helpful for you. This meeting/telephone conversation gives you the opportunity to talk about what has brought you to counselling and get answers to any questions you may have.

What to expect

Please know that whatever you bring to counselling sessions, you'll never be judged and will always be warmly accepted and respected for who you are. I provide a confidential and safe space for you to talk about whatever is going on for you and together we can look at what this means in your life.

My counselling approach is based on a person centred model, but I will integrate aspects from other therapeutic approaches (particularly CBT) to meet your individual needs if this would be beneficial - we can talk about this together in more detail during your free initial consultation appointment.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor and over the last five years have supported individuals through my work with a National charity, offered counselling support for a local children's centre and as worked as a counsellor for a Lincoln community interest company. I now work within my private practice offering counselling help for a range of issues including generalised anxiety disorder, anger issues, depression, panic attacks, suicidal thoughts and self harming behaviours as well as those experiencing relationship difficulties.

I have a BA Hons counselling degree level 6 qualification as well as a level 5 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Diploma and I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

All of my work is fully insured and I hold a current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate. I am also registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) (you can check this online) so you can be sure that your personal data and confidentiality is protected at all times and that my practice complies with data protection regulations.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
