Hello I'm Claire, a qualified practitioner in counselling with over 10 years experience. I trained in the person-centred approach and have also touched on other modalities. I have worked with children, young people and adults. I have experience with a variety of issues such as anxiety, panic attacks, eating disorders, loss, sexual/physical/emotional abuse, self-harm, domestic violence, confidence, exam stress, relationship issues & relationship breakdowns.
Due to my other role, I practice privately on Monday evenings and offer sessions online/phone only.
I recognise that life doesn't always go to plan and people within our circle of family and friends aren't always ready, willing or able to listen to us. I work in a very relaxed professional way and at a pace which suits you. If creativity is required for children / young people, I will also implement this into the sessions to enable them to feel more comfortable when opening up and to engage within their therapy.
I offer a safe space and a private and confidential relationship.
Training, qualifications & experience
Dip in Therapeutic Counselling, person-centred - Leeds
I have also attended numerous Continuing Professional Development courses and read various articles which keep me up to date within the field of counselling and psychotherapy and is a BACP requirement if you wish to practice.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
£45.00 per session
Free initial telephone or online session
First assessment and introductory session - £20 for 30 minutes.
Also sessions thereafter, £45 for 1 hour.
Online sessions only/phone.
My working hours are between 6 - 9pm
Please phone me and we will set up an initial session where we will talk about what you hope to gain from counselling and whether I'm the right person to help.
The email or phone contact is not an avenue for in-depth work, it is just an introduction to one another. If you're happy to continue, after our first meeting, we'll set up a second session and from there will arrange to see each other on a basis that suits you.
Please get in touch and let me help you find that better place.
