I am a fully qualified and experienced Counsellor and Integrative Psychotherapist. That means I have training and experience in different kinds of therapy and theories to help individuals work through their difficulties. I am qualified and experienced in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person Centred Therapy and Attachment Theory. I am also a Qualified Mental Health Nurse, with nearly 20 years of experience in the NHS.
Life can be really difficult and challenging and for many of us, things that happen throughout can cause pressure to build and patterns to form. Sometimes, this may be due to our experiences growing up and developing in our world and sometimes it's the things that happen to us as adults. Sometimes we might not have a clue why, or where the issues started! Some of the problems people come to therapy for might have a specific symptom such as problematic anxiety, depression, low mood or low self esteem. However, it is completely okay if we are unable to name our reason for seeking therapy initially and part of the role of a therapist is to support people to work that out! Counselling and therapy is an opportunity to explore all of this with somebody qualified and experienced, but most of all human!

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I am happy to be contacted by telephone, text message or e-mail with initial communication about therapy. I can have a discussion on telephone to arrange the first session and discuss any questions you may have about therapy. This also gives me a chance to get a basic understanding of your reasons for therapy before we meet.
