About me

Counselling will help you explore the things in life that may be bothering you, however, big or small. It is both welcoming and confidential. It is often difficult to make the first appointment but I have a wealth of experience in helping people to overcome all types of problems and in manage initial concerns. The first session will support you to explore the things that you might want to change, identifying existing difficulties that might be contributing towards the more troublesome areas in your life.

I am a highly qualified professional with many years of experience of successfully treating people with a wide range of conditions including Anxiety, Health Anxiety, Stress, including work related, Social Anxiety, OCD and Panic, Low Self-Esteem, Relationship and Family difficulties, Anger Management, Depression, Low-Mood, feeling flat, and demotivated, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), decision-making problems and problem solving skills in general.

Sessions are either in person (from my office in Cowbridge) or virtual, (with online appointments via Zoom, WhatsApp or FaceTime or via the telephone). Counselling sessions are an hour, and depending on your individual needs take place weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.

My qualifications include a 1st Class Hons. Degree in Psychology, a postgraduate diploma in CBT counselling and a Masters Degree in Personal Development . I have previously worked as an associate CBT counsellor for Cwm Taff NHS counselling service, and for Cardiff University, and for other large healthcare providers including referrals through an employee assistance programme.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
