Christine Wilson, MA, BSc. (Hons 1st Class) Psychology, PGDip CBT Counselling
Counselling is designed to help you explore the things in life that may be bothering you however big or small. I am a qualified CBT counsellor with experience of helping people to overcome a range of problems, including Anxiety, Depression, Panic and Panic Disorder, OCD, Low self- esteem, Stress and work-related stress, Anger Management, and PTSD. I offer discounted rates for Students, OAP's, those working in the Armed Forces, blue light services and other emergency services.
Counselling helps you explore what might be contributing to your distress or stopping you from reaching your full potential. It is designed to help you identify more effective ways of coping. The first session will support you to explore what you would like to change, identifying existing difficulties or other issues that might be contributing towards those problematic areas of your life, (for example, low self-esteem). I will help you to set goals and aspirations, and develop more positive ways of coping.
I provide face to face counselling in a safe and relaxing atmosphere, as well as telephone and internet-based therapy sessions. Sessions usually last for 1 hour and depending on your individual needs take place weekly, fortnightly, or monthly.
As the founder of the CBT Counselling Clinic, a private counselling and therapy practice, I work in accordance with the BACP code of ethics.
The types of counselling include, face to face counselling in Cowbridge and via Skype for clients who live further away; Skype service in Europe, Asia and USA. I have worked with Cwm Taff NHS counselling service, with Cardiff University and self-referred referrals through an employee assistance programme and other health / psychological providers.
