About me

Firstly a warm hello! Finding the right therapist and booking your first  session can be a daunting experience and it takes a lot of courage to do so.  I have years of experience supporting clients to meet their goals for therapy.   I could say a lot about my specific qualifications and the type of therapy I offer, but honestly, I believe all types of therapy can work.   The most important factor on your journey I believe, is the therapeutic relationship you have with your counsellor or therapist. If you feel you can really trust and open up to your therapist, then your journey of self discovery and healing can truly begin. So please take time to read about me and go with what your gut tells you (its normally right!)

People quite simply are my passion as is improving mental health. Mental health is so vital to our quality of life and how we relate to the world around us. Without it, life can seem overwhelming, and our view of ourselves, the world, and our future, tainted; almost like we are looking at the world through a muddy lens. I help clients to clean that lens, and look at the world, self, and others, in a realistic evidence based way; challenging those negative thoughts that can make us feel so bad and act in a way that perpetuates the cycle of negativity. Empowering people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to understand and help themselves discover a more authentic and fulfilled way of life.

I specialise in providing structured CBT therapy for adults  and young people experiencing low mood, self esteem and anxiety together with the various forms it can take (post traumatic stress disorder, health anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, post natal anxiety, general anxiety, panic attacks or phobias). I also work with many other mental health conditions including trauma. Your bespoke treatment plan will be unique to you and tailored to meet your specific goals for therapy. I can help you feel in control of your emotions and your life again.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, experienced Counsellor and a Registrant with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am now lucky enough to have had years of experience and thousands of hours working with people from all walks of life, helping them to meet their goals, process their past and work towards being their 'best self'. The heart of my practice is treating my clients with genuineness, warmth, empathy and unconditional positive regard. No matter what your story is I will be there not to advise, judge or criticise, but to support, explore, and teach you skills to help understand yourself and manage your emotions.  Working with you to meet your goals. I specialise in providing structured CBT therapy for adults and young  people experiencing low mood, self esteem/confidence issues, and anxiety together with  the various forms it can take. I also specialise in working with adults and young people who have experienced trauma including emotional and physical abuse.

I provide confidential counselling and CBT therapy from my private counselling office  based at Wilson Business Centre  (ideal for those who prefer to avoid the hassle of city travel; secure free parking on site and easily accessible from Glasgow and surrounding areas). I also offer face to face online therapy if that works better. I never cease to be amazed at the power of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and the transformations in my clients from session to session by applying the learning we embark on through therapy, to their daily lives.

Together we will work towards making sense of what is causing you distress just now, and work towards meeting your goals for therapy, session by session, step by step.I take such great pride in the progress and success of my clients by applying the learning we embark on through therapy, to their daily lives. I look forward to meeting you and being a part of your journey!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Please note ......  Due to  the closure of the St James Business Centre  which has been my much loved business 'home' since 2018, I have been fortunate to secure new tenancy at the beautiful Wilson Business Park which is located within Hillington Business park.  I was keen to secure a premises away from town and city centres which offers motorway access from all areas and plenty of parking (and an easily accessibly room within that building ....with a  window.....window essential!!) :).  Wilson Business Park is very close to the Glasgow's famous Braehead shopping Centre and if you are familiar with  the Paisley area (Barshaw Park or David Loyd) it is only minutes away through the 'back roads'  no need to go near the motorway or Braehead roundabout at all!  Therapy will be provided at my new business 'home' from April 1st 2024.

Please see link below to Wilson Business Park below. My room will be at the top of the stairs, turn left, and first door on the left.  Waiting area downstairs if you are early.
