About me
Hi, I'm Chloe. A neurodivergent psychotherapist and dog-mum of 2, living and working in Derbyshire. I currently work with a range of themes including (but not limited to) neurodiversity (self or professionally diagnosed), work-related stress, family dynamics, sexuality and bereavement. I love working with clients to explore power dynamics and have noticed clients using therapy to find their voice establishing boundaries, particularly with parents as they enter adulthood. I have an interest in working with women exploring body-image issues, challenges surrounding weight loss/gain and bariatric surgery.
Before psychotherapy, I qualified as a teacher & tutored children and young people privately, up to the age of 16. A main part of that role was supporting young people through exam stress, hormonal changes, friendship worries and more. So, after a small break whilst I finished my training, I'm thrilled to share I am now able to offer my services to children and young people.
I have had my fair share of therapy over the years including in-school counselling and private therapy, so I understand you may be a little apprehensive at the idea of the unknown. With that being said, you will be greeted with a warm smile, listening-ear and a cosy space to relax in. Plus a cup of tea or coffee if you fancy! The kettle is always on here.
I always recommend we begin working together on a weekly basis, but I am also open to fortnightly & monthly sessions once a relationship is established. Sessions are 50-minutes in length, but you may decide to end a session earlier - therapy can sometimes feel exhausting for clients!
Regrettably, I am unable to see those with specific accessibility needs in person due to the therapy space being upstairs.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm an accredited member of UKCP, with an MSc in Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy and further CPD is continued throughout the year.
Before Psychotherapy, I qualified as a primary teacher & then worked with children up to age-16 throughout COVID-19 and beyond in a tutoring capacity. As well as providing academic support, a main part of the role I enjoyed was supporting the young people in a pastoral manner, with exam-stress, friendship worries, family dynamics etc. After my initial Psychotherapy training, I have undertaken CPD to enhance my therapeutic practise, which I can now offer to Children and Young People.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I am aware what you (or your child) are looking for may not be on this list. I consider myself to be a relational therapist - working alongside you with whatever may come up. Should something arise that is out of my professional competence, I will support you in the transition to seek appropriate support.

Further information
When not in the therapy room, I enjoy being surrounded by family - including my crazy cocker spaniel & mixed-breed rescue dog. I love to have adventures in the countryside, but also enjoy watching the world go by in a coffee shop. Failing that, I'll be rewatching Harry Potter for the 56000th time!
