About me

I trained in Psychology and have spent the last 25 years working in the NHS. As a person-centred therapist, my role is to create a non-judgmental space where you can explore thoughts, feelings or issues that are troubling you. Working at your pace, I will listen and support you to find a way forward.

I aim to help you understand yourself more or gain clarity into patterns of behaviour that may be holding you back. I have worked with people from many different backgrounds to find solutions and understand a wide range of issues.

You may find it insightful to understand how issues from the past are impacting on your life and relationships, which can help you make different decisions and choices.

In our first session, I will explain how I work and answer any questions you might have. I will invite you to tell me about yourself and the outcomes you would like to achieve from counselling.

The first session is important for you to explore if you think I am the right therapist for you. Counselling is an investment both financially and in terms of time commitment so it is important to me that you feel you are getting value from your sessions.

There are lots of different ways to do therapy, so please don’t worry if you’re not sure if therapy is for you or if it will even work. The main thing is you are considering it and I can work with that. I like to work creatively with clients and there is rarely one silver bullet that fixes everything, what I promise though is a space to bring whatever is bothering you or holding you back and together we can formulate a plan to get you living however you choose to.

Getting over the threshold of the therapy room is usually the hardest bit, but once you do, who knows where it might take you?

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and CMI Level 7 in Leadership Coaching

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
