About me

Do you often find yourself putting others first, struggling to say “no”, or feeling responsible for how those around you feel? You might notice yourself becoming disconnected from your own needs, feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low in mood, or simply exhausted. Perhaps you’re going through a life change, living with a long-term condition, or simply needing space to pause and make sense of things.

Hi, I’m Charlotte from Just Be Therapy. I offer a compassionate, confidential space where you can talk openly and without judgment. My approach is integrative, with a person-centred foundation, drawing from psychodynamic, CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness, and trauma-sensitive, neuro-affirming approaches.

In practice, this means your therapy is tailored to you! Your pace, your needs, and what feels most helpful in the moment, rather than a “one-size-fits-all” way of working. I also work from a social model perspective, recognising that distress often makes sense in the context of our experiences, relationships, and environments, rather than being something “wrong” with you.

Together, we might explore patterns in your relationships and ways of coping, gently build self-awareness and self-trust, or create space to slow down and reconnect with yourself in a way that feels more steady and manageable over time.

As a disabled counsellor, I also bring both lived and professional experience of complex trauma, invisible disability, chronic illness, anxiety, low mood, and caring responsibilities. This can offer an additional layer of understanding and attunement in our work together.

If you’re considering reaching out but feeling unsure, that’s very understandable. You’re welcome to send me a message initially — there’s no obligation to commit. From there, you can decide if you’d like a free 15-minute telephone consultation: a short call where you can ask any questions you may have, and I can learn a little more about what’s going on for you, to help us both think about whether I’d be the right counsellor for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
