About me

Hi! I'm Charlotte, a Trauma-Informed Therapist, Counsellor and Coach, for women who struggle with people-pleasing, low self-confidence, low self-esteem or overthinking and want to feel confident in life and/or business.

As someone who used to be an anxious people-pleaser, I know how exhausting and overwhelming it can feel to always be 'do-ing' , trying to keep everyone happy, smiling and saying "it's fine" yet internally feeling stuck in cycles of overthinking, second-guessing and feeling unsure of who you really are.

Maybe you’ve been called “too sensitive,” “too emotional” "too needy".. too much.
Yet no matter how much you give, try, or achieve - deep down it still doesn’t feel like you’re truly enough.

You might have lots of ideas but never quite follow them through - maybe you worry what people will think, doubt yourself or your never-ending to-do list gets in the way...
You often overthink decisions, replay conversations in your head, and find yourself saying yes when you want to say no - because if you say no you feel selfish, guilty or anxious.

You usually put everyone else first, even though you’re emotionally and physically exhausted and often feel like no one considers how you're feeling or what you need. And while you feel bad for feeling it, deep down… you’re starting to get resentful. You just want some space to breathe.

You keep telling yourself, “When things calm down, I’ll make time for me,”But the truth is, things never calm down. There’s always one more thing, one more person to take care of.

And somewhere along the way… you’ve started to forget what you wanted. What you enjoy. Who you really are.

I've been there and so have hundreds of women I've worked with over the years. Woman who've been stuck in patterns of masking traits of ADHD, people-pleasing, low self-esteem, anxiety, self-doubt, or never feeling good enough.

A lot of those women had either told themselves 'things aren't bad enough for therapy' and so read the books and listened to the podcasts to become very self-aware, or they've had therapy elsewhere in the past, and yet still find themselves stuck in familiar patterns they can't shift.

Therapy with me is different, my level of expertise and training means you won’t just identify the root of what’s keeping you stuck (you might already have an idea of what it is!), we will address it and integrate new, healthier patterns so you can build a future that’s aligned with who you really are - with confidence.

What to expect

With over 20 years of studying psychology, neuroscience, trauma, attachment and the nervous system and 15+ years helping people untangle what’s been keeping them stuck, I bring both lived experience and clinical expertise.

I’ve gone from anxious people-pleaser to showing up with grounded self-trust and self-belief, and I’m here to help you do the same.

Together, we’ll untangle the anxiety, guilt, the overthinking, and the pressure to be everything for everyone… so you can start reconnecting with you and start believing you are good enough (actually feeling it on a deeper level rather than just trying to tell yourself it's true)

And what does that actually look like?

✨ Saying “Let me get back to you” instead of automatically saying yes and setting boundaries with confidence.
✨ Sitting down without immediately feeling like you should be doing something (imagine finally switching off!).
✨ Realising it feels easier to breathe, like something in you has softened, and the weight you’ve been carrying for years is finally lifting.
✨ Feeling proud of yourself after setting boundaries - not panicked, not ashamed.
✨ Wearing whatever you want - without worrying what people might think.
✨ Trying new things and putting yourself out there because you’re no longer stuck overthinking what everyone else might think.
✨ Waking up with more clarity and making decisions with more confidence.
✨ Remembering who you really are, what you actually enjoy, and discovering what you want from life finally with the space, self-trust, and self-belief to go after it.

You don’t need to keep proving your worth.
You are enough - you just haven’t had the safety or space to fully believe it yet.

Let’s change that.

This isn't about just 'fake it til you make it' or changing how you think - this is about deep transformative long-lasting change.

My Approach
Reaching out for therapy can feel daunting, and I’m always mindful that you may feel a little anxious as we begin. My clients often tell me how relieved they are to find that I’m down-to-earth, relatable, genuine - and, as many put it - “just normal.”

While I remain professional, I’m not overly formal. You may even find a bit of humour in our sessions. I do my utmost to put you at ease and guide the conversation when needed.

I don’t offer one-size-fits-all therapy and my approach is more than just talking thing through - I draw on years of specialist training to tailor sessions to you. Sessions may include a combination of; Counselling, Psychotherapy, Solutions-focused therapy, Motivational Interviewing, trauma or attachment processing, EMDR, Schema Therapy, Parts work, Somatic and Nervous System work, or deeper CBT—tailored to your unique needs.

To get more of a feel for who I am and how I work you can find lot of videos from me over on Instagram @charlotte_bailey_therapies or check out my website for different packages of therapy, coaching and mentoring.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training, Qualifications & Experience
Having worked through my own anxious people-pleasing patterns, I’m deeply passionate about this work. I bring both lived experience and professional expertise, which I also share on my podcast, Let’s Talk People-Pleasing! with Charlotte Bailey Therapies

I’m featured in the media as an expert on mental health, trauma, and attachment, with contributions to several well-known publications (more details on my website).

I’ve been supporting people for over 15 years—starting with Samaritans, then working in NHS drug and alcohol services, and later in NHS therapy and counselling teams.

I’m a BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist (since 2017) and have completed further specialist training in EMDR, Schema Therapy, and other evidence-based approaches—so I can offer more than just surface-level support.

My approach is warm, personalised, and goes beyond 'symptom management'. Together, we’ll explore the root cause of what’s keeping you stuck, while I support you with practical, evidence-based tools to help you feel more confident, empowered, and emotionally free.
