About me
Deep down do you often feeling like you're 'too much' and 'not enough'?
Perhaps you are so used to trying to keep everyone happy, masking parts of yourself and shapeshifting your personality to try your best to fit in and not be seen as 'different' that you don't know who you really are - your authentic self
or maybe you're so used to putting everyone else first that you've lost sight of yourself and your own needs and wants
It might show up for you in some of these ways:
✔️ You feel guilty saying no - even when you don’t want to do something.
✔️ You try to keep the peace to avoid conflict, suppressing how you feel even when it leaves you frustrated and resentful.
✔️ You overthink everything—what you said, how you came across, if someone is annoyed with you.
✔️ You’re exhausted from constantly doing for everyone else, but the idea of stopping makes you anxious.
✔️ Deep down, you worry that if you don’t show up as ‘the helpful one,’ or easygoing people won’t value you and you'll be rejected.
You might not call yourself a ‘people-pleaser,’ but you know this: you always seem to put others first, and it’s draining you.
Imagine if you could...
✨ Say no without anxiety or guilt - or needing to come up with an excuse.
✨ Trust your decisions without second-guessing everything.
✨ Feel confident in who you are and accept all parts of yourself, unapologetically.
✨ Set boundaries without feeling like you're letting people down.
✨ Stop feeling drained from carrying everyone else’s needs before your own.
✨ Finally feel free to live life on your terms—without fear of judgment.
✨ Speak up without your voice shaking or your heart racing.
✨ No longer feel like you’re too much or not enough—just comfortable being you.
How Therapy Can Help
Unlike a general counsellor I'm a specialist psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience supporting people who feel stuck in over-giving, overthinking, low self-esteem and feel lost when it comes to knowing who they really are.
My approach is warm, down-to-earth, relatable and trauma-informed, helping you break these patterns at the root.
I use a 6-step proven method that integrates my 20+years studying psychology and advanced training based on evidence-based techniques and a deep understanding of neuroscience, trauma and attachment.
Alongside other modalities my approach incorporates elements from:
✔️ Schema Therapy – Understanding why you struggle and what keeps you stuck.
✔️ CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) – Develop a toolbox of practical strategies to stop cycles of unhelpful habits and patterns, of overthinking and self-doubt.
✔️ EMDR Therapy – Processing past experiences that may be fuelling your people-pleasing patterns.
My personalised approach will help you unlock clarity, change, and freedom from the unhelpful patterns and limiting beliefs that have been holding you back to create long-term, positive change - feel confident saying yes to the real you, unapologetically.
What To Expect
Reaching out for therapy can be daunting and I am always mindful that you may feel anxious as we begin our sessions. A lot of my clients comment how relieved they are to find I'm down-to-earth, relatable, genuine and 'normal'. Whilst I remain professional I am not overly formal in my approach, you may even find some humour within our sessions! I do my utmost to put you at ease and guide the conversation when necessary, whilst we make sense of why you feel the way you do and you discover how to change unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns.
To get more of a feel for who I am and for relatable content from a former anxious people head to Instagram @charlotte_bailey_therapies and my YouTube channel 'Let's Talk People-Pleasing!' You can also search for my podcast of the same name on the usual platforms.
Training, qualifications & experience
Having worked through my own anxious people-pleasing habits, I'm passionate about what I do and draw from my personal experiences and professional expertise on my podcast 'Let's Talk People-Pleasing!'
I'm also a media and press expert on the subject of mental health, psychology trauma and attachment and have been featured in several well known publications (further details on my website)
How to Know if my Approach is Right for You:
You’ve had therapy before and not found it helpful at all or in the long term
or
You want to delve deeper and really get to the root cause and understand your unhelpful habits and patterns.
or
You ‘get’ what you need to do to but don’t ‘feel’ you can implement the changes
or
You're making changes but not feeling better.
I first started supporting people over 15 years ago when I worked for the Samaritans, followed by the NHS in their drug and alcohol services and then joined the NHS therapy and counselling service. I've been a BABCP Accredited CBT Therapist since 2017 and trained in additional approaches such as EMDR and Schema Therapy and others to ensure I provide more than a surface level service. My personalised approach is explorative and productive - identifying and addressing the root cause whilst teaching you practical evidence-based strategies , so you can move forward towards long-term positive change.

Further information
