About me
Hello, I’m Catriona and I am a qualified integrative counsellor offering therapy to people aged 18 and upwards, face to face in my consulting room in Cambridge and online, by arrangement.
As a humanistic integrative counsellor, I have a range of tools I can use depending on the person and situation but the core of my practice is person centred – this means that the relationship between us is key. I will welcome you into a safe, non-judgemental space and give you time to explore the issues you bring.
Counselling can be beneficial to a huge range of issues, both mental health related and life stresses. Asking for help can be difficult for lots of reasons, but it is not selfish to wish to understand yourself better and in doing so, to start to make sense of and put right the difficulties in your life. I am fully insured and am a registered member of the BACP.
My preference is to work face to face as I feel it usually leads to a better relationship, but there may be people for whom this will not work. Please speak to me if you would like to work online or in a mixture of face to face and online.
I can work with people both long-term or short term, depending on the needs of the client.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a diploma in integrative counselling and experience working in the charity sector, including for Lifecraft, working with adults with mental health issues and Open Door in Saffron Walden, working with young people with a range of issues.
I studied for my counselling diploma later in life after my own experience of counselling helped me to learn who I was and gain insight into why I felt the way I did.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
