About me
I am a cognitive behavioural therapist with experience supporting adults, including those with learning disabilities, through some of the most challenging moments in their lives. My work spans a wide range of issues, including domestic violence, addiction, including alcohol and drugs, the emotional complexities of ageing, and the deep impact of loss, bereavement, and childhood trauma. I also have experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, loneliness, guilt, dissociation, and the long-term effects of abuse.
I work with clients to overcome feelings of overwhelm, feeling unheard, or feeling disconnected from those around them. You may be struggling in a relationship, feeling isolated, or finding it difficult to express your emotions to family or friends. You might notice anger, sadness, or frustration appearing without a clear reason, or feel as though you are constantly putting on a brave face while you may be feeling different on the inside.
My approach is grounded in the belief that you are the expert in your own life. My role is to offer a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore the experiences, patterns, and emotions that may be holding you back. Together, we work toward goal setting and strengthening your self-confidence, rebuilding your sense of personal value and worth, setting healthy boundaries, and developing tools to manage anxiety and emotional overwhelm.
The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful change. I am committed to creating an environment where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted - often allowing you to explore difficult feelings or memories for the very first time. I aim to support you in moving forward with greater clarity, resilience, and self-belief.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist with a strong foundation in both therapeutic practice and specialist education. I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University Centre at Warwickshire College in Leamington Spa, and my work is grounded in a compassionate, person-centred approach.
My professional background spans several settings, giving me a broad understanding of the challenges people face:
Specialist Education: I have extensive experience working as a teacher in a further‑education college for young adults with special educational needs. I taught life skills, English, and Mathematics, and supported individuals on the autism spectrum to build confidence, independence, and emotional resilience.
Domestic Violence Support: I have provided one-to-one emotional support to clients who have experienced domestic abuse, helping them navigate trauma, rebuild safety, and regain a sense of control.
Age UK: I have worked with older adults in their homes, offering emotional support and a safe space to explore feelings of loss, change, or isolation.
Addiction: I have many years of experience working with individuals and families affected by addiction. This includes supporting people through the emotional, relational, and practical difficulties that addiction can create, and helping them rebuild stability, self-worth, and healthier coping strategies.
Across all these roles, I have developed a calm, grounded, and empathetic therapeutic style. I believe in empowering individuals to understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and to make meaningful changes at a pace that feels right for them.
