About me

I am a BACP accredited Counsellor working with both individual clients and couples. I work with clients in person in my comfortable and confidential practice room, and am also happy to offer Counselling or Supervision online via Zoom. I am experienced in helping people who are facing difficulties such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, health problems, low self esteem, relationship issues, stress and many others. I integrate aspects of psychodynamic, person-centred and cognitive approaches into my work, in order to provide the most helpful approach for each client.

You may be thinking about having counselling for a variety of reasons: Perhaps you are feeling depressed, anxious, confused or lost, or maybe you are struggling with low self esteem? Perhaps you are struggling to live with grief, or you may beexperiencing difficulties in your relationships with friends or family, or problems at work? May be you are facing a difficult decision or choice. Or are you simply feeling that you would like to take time to reflect on your life, to understand yourself better and to make some changes?

My training and experience enables me to help you to work through some of the areas which concern you now, as well as understanding the impact which previous relationships and life experiences may be having. I believe in counselling as a collaborative process where each client is the "expert" on their own life, and where together we can makes sense of your feelings and thoughts, which in turn can help you to bring about change.

I provide a safe and therapeutic environment where you can explore the issues that concern you in a non-judgemental atmosphere of support, compassion and confidentiality.

I am also able to offer Supervision to fellow Counsellors on an Individual or Group basis.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
