About me

I am a qualified counsellor and Registered Member of the BACP.

  • Relationships - past and present and how they are impacting your life
  • Anxious feelings - making it difficult to be yourself
  • Lack of confidence - causing you to feel that you are not reaching your potential or avoiding situations
  • Low self-esteem
  • Past trauma - feeling triggered by past hurt impacting your current life
  • Feeling low and unsure how to make changes to lift you to happiness
  • Feelings of sadness, and depression - making it hard to find joy in your world
  • chronic pain - resulting in frustration and feelings of helplessness

Maybe you would like just a few sessions to help you feel more grounded or work through a tough decision or much longer to help you make sense of your feelings.  Are relationships past and present impacting you?  Maybe you feel anxious, confused, sad or alone and would like to talk about how this is impacting your life.  I work with clients experiencing low feelings, depression, and chronic pain and have experienced trauma in their lives.
I work by offering you the core conditions of person centred counselling, which means that you remain at the heart of your sessions. As our therapeutic relationship develops I hope you will come to explore further and start to adopt the changes you want to find a peaceful mind and a calmer thoughts. I offer a space for you to breathe and unravel your thoughts and the emotions around them.  By reflecting these back to you, I can give you the opportunity to take a look at the way you feel about your life without feeling judged.  I will actively listen and offer gentle enquiry as you talk to try my best to understand how things are for you and respond with compassion.

I can incorporate mindfulness breathing and activities into your sessions if this feels right for you.

I can offer a private and secure room in a quiet part of the town centre, easily accessible by public transport and nearby parking. Please email or call me to arrange an initial meeting. We can talk about what you want from your counselling sessions, and if you'd like to proceed, we can schedule your next sessions. I also offer remote sessions via telephone or video call.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Registered Member of the BACP
  • Advanced MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • BSc Honours Degree in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Certificate in Counselling Skills
  • MBSR (Mindfulness training and instructor training)
  • Mental health first aid

I have had a varied career supporting individuals, families and young people for over 15 years.  I have spent many years working with adults and also with young people whilst in different settings including schools and colleges.  During this time I have come to better understand how our environments, family dynamics, health, both physical and mental, housing, work, education, etc impact our lives and can have an ongoing and lasting impact.  I have built on this experience and now offer person-centered counselling to individuals.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
