About me
Welcome to my profile. I re-located from Hampshire to Somerset in May 2013 and set up a private practice in my home in Porlock. I am a warm, supportive and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, providing therapy in a professional and confidential environment. I place great importance on the acceptance of each person's uniqueness and offer a safe, non-judgemental space for you to explore difficult issues.
I work with individual adults and young people aged 16+, either on a short or long-term basis. My experience covers a wide range of issues, including working with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, guilt and trauma. I have specialised in bereavement counselling through my work with Cruse Bereavement Care.
As a gestalt counsellor I value all aspects of human potential, needs, experience and existence: social, cognitive, bodily, spiritual, emotional and environmental. Everything we have experienced has shaped us and our way of being. Gestalt therapy focuses on feelings, thoughts and patterns of behaviour in the present, seeking to raise an individual's awareness of obstacles to growth and address unresolved situations that are causing concern. It is a relational and collaborative process, empowering the person seeking therapy to find their own ways of coping, understanding or adjusting.
Choosing a therapist can be a perplexing decision and one that requires careful consideration. An introductory session provides an opportunity for us to meet and explore what you might need from therapy. We can then decide together whether I am the right person to help you and if you would like to proceed further. Sessions last for 60 minutes and are usually weekly. The number of sessions are dependent on your individual requirements.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
