About me

Are you finding life really difficult at the moment?

Maybe you’ve lost confidence in yourself and it’s left you feeling stuck and unsure how to move forwards.

You might feel that you’ve made mistakes in your life which have led you to a place you didn’t want or expect to be in.

Hi - I'm Carole. If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place. I get it because I’ve struggled with those things too.

It’s only in fairy tales that everyone lives happily ever after.  In real life,  sometimes it feels like everything has gone wrong and we can't cope any more.  But the good news is – you don’t have to stay stuck.  It’s possible to find energy, joy and purpose again.

So how can counselling help?

Actually, It’s not about reconnecting with who you used to be, but feeling comfortable with who you are now:

  • You can start living your life in the present instead of worrying about        the future.
  • You can develop the capacity and confidence to cope with life’s downs as well as the ups.

If any of this resonates with you, you’re not alone.  I’ve worked with many people struggling with the same feelings. Email me now, and let’s get started.  Caroleheseltoncounselling@outlook.com

I offer both online and in-person sessions in St Albans.

Training, qualifications & experience

I now work mainly with women in times of difficulty or change, whether you need support with relationships, loss, work-life balance, self esteem or health issues.

What I love most about working as a counsellor is seeing clients seizing the reins of their own life, learning to really value and understand themselves, growing in resilience and confidence.

I am a BACP registered counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in integrative counselling, primarily person-centred. I also use some elements of CBT, Transactional Analysis and Attachment Theory.

I currently offer private counselling either in person in St Albans or online for clients anywhere in the UK.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I am currently undertaking additional training to support people with anxiety so would welcome clients who are suffering with anxiety, either generalised or acute, experiencing panic attacks.

I can help you understand how and why anxiety affects us, gain insight into the processes that happen in your body and learn how to calm and sooth yourself. Once your anxiety is under control, we can if you choose work with the root cause of your anxiety.
