About me

A warm welcome to you,  my name is Carol, I am a  MBACP Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor.

I am an experienced Counsellor and Supervisor. I started my counselling training in 2005 and qualified in 2010 with a Foundation Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy ( Greenwich University)

I consider myself warm and approchable, I try my best to make you feel at ease and comfortable. I do recognise, that it takes courage to take the first step, therefore its is important to me, that I make the next steps as easy as possible so that you can begin your therapy journey.

My integrative training assists me in working with a wide range of difficulties. In particular my training and interest in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is particularly suited to clients presenting with Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, OCD, Panic attacks, Phobias, and Intrusive Thoughts.  All of which can vastly affect the lives of those who suffer from such disorders. I can help you explore what is going on, we can work towards finding new coping skills that help you manage the anxiety. I can also help you discover new ways of balanced thinking, and healthier alternatives to manage situations, helping you improve your wellbeing.

If anxiety isn't the cause of your distress, perhaps you are experiencing difficulties with relationships, or you are having to deal with something that is causing emotional turmoil, you might be feeling angry, misunderstood, sad, frustrated, or genuinely overwhelmed. Perhaps you feel you've lost your way in life , or lost your sense of self. Confidence and low self esteem may be holding you back. Therapy can help you to identify what you are feeling and help you to work towards growth.

Not everyone that contacts me is suffering, some clients are just wanting to speak to a therapist about their goals in life, they want someone with whom to track progress. Perhaps there are some blocks in the road and you need to navigate a clearer pathway, as a therapist, I can help coach you along the way.

I qualified 13 years ago, attaining a Foundation Degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy Level 5 with commendation from Greenwich University (Accredited Course). I have previous experience working in GP surgeries (IAPT) and also working with young people in school settings. I have worked in Private Practice for over 10 years.

I can offer daytime appointment in person or daytime and evening appointments online, I am flexible in the way I offer appointments. I understand that many people live busy lives and are juggling multiple commitments, therefore I do my best to accommodate. Please message me for availabilty.

Please feel free to contact me,  it is important thay you find the right counsellor. There will be no pressure on you to book an appointment with me, in fact,  if I consider that I am not best suited to help you, I can refer you to a colleague. Should you chose to engage with me, I will guide you to the next stage. I have made everything as straightforward as possible so that you can begin as soon as you are ready.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
