About me
Hi! I am Carmel. I am an integrative counsellor, and my practice is based in the Kings Langley and Watford area. I offer both online and in person sessions, catering to your individual needs.
I started my counselling journey volunteering with Druglink - Oxygen Breathe, helping those with addiction. Since then, I've volunteered with an online agency, providing support for various needs, Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, where I assisted staff with their mental health journey, and most recently, the Hospice of Francis, working with clients facing bereavement or life-limiting illnesses. Since qualifying, I now run my own practice and work with an agency, assisting clients on their waiting list.
Having personally navigated post-natal depression after the birth of my first child, followed by a cancer diagnosis, I understand how transformative counselling can be in the journey to mental health recovery. It’s this first-hand experience that fuels my deep commitment to supporting others through their own challenges.
What I offer
Are you overwhelmed, experiencing feelings of anxiety, stress, sadness, or depression? Are you struggling with repetitive thoughts or actions that feel out of your control? Is this making you feel scared, empty, lost, and desperate for change? I can help you. Working in a person-centred way, I can provide a confidential, safe, non-judgmental space, where you can explore your thoughts and feelings. We will work at your pace, exploring only what you wish to bring. I will offer empathy, unconditional positive regard and respect at all times.
Whilst I work in a person-centred way, my approach is integrative. I can use a toolbox of concepts, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and TA (Transactional Analysis). Working together, we can utilise these tools and begin your journey of self-exploration. Helping you to work towards healing and becoming your best self.
If you are looking for some additional support at this difficult time, then please get in touch. I would be honoured to walk alongside you, as you work towards a more positive future, with a better understanding and stronger sense of self.
What to expect
To start with, we will have a free of charge 15 minute consultation over the phone, or via Zoom. This is to discuss your requirements and goals, and to help you to decide whether I would be a good fit for you.
If we decide to work together, our first session will be about beginning to build our working relationship. We will complete an assessment together, and discuss your requirements in more detail.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place on a weekly basis.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
