About me
My name is Cara, and I am a person-centred therapist. I offer in-person, online, and telephone counselling from my studio in the peaceful village of Ruthvoes; a haven where the world slows down, allowing you the space to just be.
How I Work
Within my therapeutic practice, I am guided entirely by you. Always working from a trauma informed approach and at your pace I provide a calm, confidential space where we can explore your thoughts and experiences at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you. You might be looking for support with anxiety, grief, depression, or a difficult life transition. Or perhaps you simply feel that something is 'off' and you're feeling stuck
You might not yet know what you need from our sessions, or what therapy looks like for you. That is completely okay. Together, we will explore your world at your own pace, discovering what supports and helps you most.
My Background
My path to counselling grew from an 18-year career as a secondary art teacher. This background deeply shaped my passion for listening to and exploring each person’s unique inner world. Having worked extensively within trauma-informed schools, I deeply value creating an adaptable, accepting space, one that embraces and supports neurodivergent ways of thinking and experiencing the world.
Bringing more than words to therapy
Talking is central to how we connect, but your therapy can look however you need it to. If it feels right for you, we can bring creativity, breathwork, or movement into our space, whether that’s through drawing, writing, or walking. There is no rigid 'homework' here. Instead, we will explore gentle, practical tools together, helping you find your own path toward clarity and balance.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
My practice operates on a sliding scale fee structure. This model creates a community of care. When you pay at the higher end of the scale, you help cover the costs for clients who have lower financial access. This approach keeps therapy accessible while honouring the value and sustainability of my work. Prices are charged per 50 minute therapy hour. I accept payment either via BACS, or in cash.
