About me

Hi, I’m Bryony. Thanks for visiting my profile.

What I can help with:

Anxiety often sits behind the difficulties people bring to therapy.
Sometimes it’s easy to recognise — like worry or panic. Sometimes it’s less obvious, but it’s still part of what’s going on — like people-pleasing, perfectionism or irritability.

When we feel anxious and overwhelmed, it’s natural to try to control it. And yet that pressure can lead to even more anxiety and ways of coping that don’t really help.

Rather than trying to control anxiety, we can respond with understanding and self-compassion — so it feels less urgent and starts to come down to size.

Areas I often work with:

I work with a wide range of issues, with a focus on anxiety and living with neurodivergence (including ADHD, autism and dyslexia).

I also have experience working with bereavement and the perinatal journey (from fertility issues, pregnancy to early parenthood).

How I work:

I aim to find an approach and pace that feels right for you. I won’t judge or sit back in silence. Instead, I’ll offer reflections and ideas that might help — always respecting that you are the expert on you.

We can work in a practical way, informed by CBT and psychological models. Understanding physical sensations and thought loops can help to break cycles of anxiety.

We might also explore habits and relationship patterns. If you find yourself wondering, “why do I always do that?”, it could be an old response. Ways of adapting to past relationships, circumstances, or events (including trauma) can remain, even when they’re no longer needed. Together, we can explore responses that feel more aligned with how you want to be now.

Background and experience:

Alongside my private practice, I’ve worked within a secondary school, a hospice, and the mental health charity Mind. I also draw on lived experience of how counselling can help with ADHD, including late diagnosis and working with neurodivergent young people.

I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I hold a Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling (CPCAB) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (CPCAB).
