About me

I regularly work with adults, young people and couples facing issues like anxiety, depression, panic, anger, stress, abuse, grief, bereavement, relationship difficulties of all kind, difficulties at work, bullying, redundancy, burn-out, addiction, family issues, eating disorders, feelings of being lost or confused and many more.

How I work
Everyone who comes to counselling is different and seeks help for a different reason. You might need support whilst going through a hard time with yourself, doubting, feeling anxious, having problems at home, at work or are experiencing anxiety or depression. You might be going through relationship difficulties or you might have suffered a major loss. You might feel anxious, alone, depressed or simply feel that something is not quite right with you or with your life and you do not know why.
I adjust my way of working with you - without judging or criticizing. I am here to support you in finding answers and a way forward to a happier and more fulfilling life.  As a fully qualified Gestalt trained counsellor I work with my clients in an encompassing, empathic and holistic way, looking for the reasons behind the problems/issues. I work in a counselling room that is quiet and provides a safe and calm environment.

My counselling approach is humanistic and integrative.

After three years of comprehensive and intense training , I qualified at the Gestalt Centre in London in 2004 with a BACP accredited Diploma and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My practice is in Englefield Green (TW20 0PQ) and is within easy reach of Egham, Staines, Virginia Water, Chertsey, Windsor, Ascot, Bracknell, Richmond, Twickenham, Ashford, Shepperton and surrounding areas. I offer counselling in English and German.

Free car parking is available.
I see individuals and also offer couples counselling.

"I received a lot of support from Brigitte while I was going through a difficult time in my life. Her warmth, understanding and real interest in me made it possible for me to talk about painful issues. Because of that and the right questions she asked I could develop new perspectives and could find my strength again." Ursula, 2011.

"Working with Brigitte was an incredibly valuable experience for me. Not only did I find her professional and highly skilled but she worked with an open honesty, which for me, was like a breath of fresh air."  Lucy, 2007

"Brigitte is warm, empathic and committed to her clients. She is reliable and consistent and I felt very safe by her boundaried approach. I enjoyed Brigitte's sense of humour in our sessions as well as her gentle and effective challenges. At times I tried to hide things from her, (and myself) and Brigitte would notice this but the decision was always mine whether I pursued it or not, we worked at my pace". Sonya, 2007

Training, qualifications & experience

After three years training I graduated from the Gestalt Centre in London in 2004 with a BACP accredited Diploma in Counselling. I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and give counselling to adults, young people, couples and also do group work. On top of my experience with private clients of all ages, I have done several years of voluntary counselling work at the Kaleidoscope Project in Kingston-Upon-Thames where I worked with clients in long-, as well as short-term therapy mostly on addiction issues. I also hold a Masters degree in English Literature and Language Sciences and Sociology. I have worked over 15 years in global IT companies as senior manager and director in international communications. I offer counselling in English and German.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
