About me
Do you feel like you are the serene Swan on the surface?
Are your legs flapping furiously underneath the water, but you don’t feel like you are moving forwards?
Then you are not alone.
Do you feel like you aren’t being heard properly?
Struggling to find your own path through the challenges life presents?
Maybe you don’t feel you are good enough or deserving of the help and support you need?
Then I am here to listen, help guide you along that path through the challenges and curveballs life will throw at you and to tell you, you do deserve that help and support.
My journey meant that I had to find my own path in life changes and I am here to support you in finding the changes you need or want to make too.
Having had multiple spinal surgeries throughout my late 20’s and 30’s and being left with chronic sciatica my life plans were very much thrown up in the air. No longer able to be a Design and Technology teacher and being told I may never work again, brought with it my own challenges with my mental health and wellbeing.
I became a therapist after experiencing how impactful therapy can be. Over the years I had tried various different therapists and models of therapy and had found nothing worked for me. Then I met the therapist who changed that and I realized it was the relationship and understanding and feeling of true empathy that really made the difference.
This experience means I know I won’t be the right fit for everyone but my work over the past 7 years has proven to me that I am that right person for some people and maybe that person is also you.
These experiences have also shaped the way I practice therapy in an integrative manner combining various different therapeutic approaches to try to offer what you need at any given point in the process. You are in charge of the sessions, and I am there sometimes just to offer a listening ear and other times to help navigate the pathways through the forest of your mind.
I work best when also offering some directiveness and to challenge your thought processes where I believe it will be helpful and is appropriate in your navigation of the twists and turns the therapy journey can take us on. You can expect me be a calm presence and to hold a space that feels safe and yours, whilst also bringing elements of me to that space in being real, honest and open.
I can help you the most by working with you in a collaborative manner, enabling and facilitating you in unlocking the answers you already have, but with the ability to adapt and offer more direction and structure where it is helpful for you.
My integrative approach coupled with my lived experience often sees me working with a predominantly male client base, who are finding their own roadblocks to navigate in the way they want to move forwards.
My previous role as a secondary school teacher and my experience of offering counselling to young people over 11 in both a School and Private practice setting puts me in a strong position to offer therapy to young people, and I find that I often seem to make strong connections with this demographic of client.
My other area of specialty is very much based around Chronic Pain where I work with clients on both the impact that it can have on mental health combined with coaching around pain management techniques and exercises.
Whilst I am open to working with anyone, the fact I can connect on multiple levels with the specific niches mentioned above offers particular strengths to my work as a therapist.
I offer a fully remote service:
1:1 Therapy Session
Pain Management Coaching and Therapy
Single Session Therapy
Working with adolescents 12+
Working with Men
Working with Schools and Corporate Clients
If you have read this far and feel like we could be well suited then I look forward to speaking with you and seeing whether we can go on a therapeutic journey together. You don’t need to know exactly where you want to get too, or how you are going to get there, but if you know you want to start the journey we can connect and see where it will take you. So please do get in touch by sending me a message or an email using the contact details below if you would like to start this journey together.
Training, qualifications & experience
Training, Qualifications & Experience
In addition to my private practice, I work as a freelance therapist for two growing start-up companies, offering accessible single-session and short-term therapy. Since 2020, I have supported clients globally through these roles.
These positions have also allowed me to contribute to broader therapeutic initiatives, including training managers on how to support employee mental health and well-being in the workplace, as well as triaging clients to connect them with the appropriate therapeutic services offered by these companies.
Previously, I spent three years working in schools within my local area, supporting young people aged 11 and older. This experience has given me valuable insight into the unique challenges faced by young people and their families.
