About me

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with registration with the Health Professions Council and the British Psychological Society.

My private practice is called iRise Psychology and we are a group of psychologists and CBT therapists who operate in London from Liverpool Street in the City. We offer short and long-term therapies drawing from cognitive behavioural (CBT), Schema Therapy and Compassion focus therapy (CFT).

Painful life events or personal issues embedded in our experiences of relationships, careers and health can be difficult to struggle with alone. For many, talking through these issues with a psychologist can help a person to understand the origins of their problems and learn to understand the process by which any issues are reinforced and maintained. Psychologists use evidenced based techniques in order to help you with this process and work to improve your condition.

Sometimes, putting thoughts and feelings to the back of our minds only leads us to gain temporary relief from our pain as issues remain unresolved and can often keep returning. Therefore, it can be very good to talk!

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been working as a full time qualified therapist for the last nine years but have worked within the field of mental health for around 17 years. I have extensive experience working to a short-term/ time-limited model. This includes working with the following conditions:

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Social Anxiety and Phobia
Agoraphobia
Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Body Dysmorhpic Disorder (BDD)
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Specific Phobias
Panic Attacks/ Disorder
Health Anxiety
Sleep Disorders
Anger
Stress
Low Self-Esteem
Adjustment Disorders.
Depression.

In addition, I work over a longer-term with some clients. These clients may need a longer term therapy approach due to the chronic nature of their difficulties. Many of these people have experienced difficulties in childhood, or started to experience difficulties as a result of traumatic event/s, and as a result are now struggling within relationships with others or with themselves.

Other specialist areas are:

Working with the LGBTQ community.
Working with anxiety disorders.

My therapeutic approach as a counselling psychologist is integrative and I draw from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Humanistic therapy. In addition, I also have a keen interest in Mindfulness Meditation, compassion focused therapy and schema therapy. My therapeutic style is adapted to best meet the individual needs of each client I see. I abide by the code of ethics of the Health Professions Council and British Psychological Society.

Further information

I also offer a safe and confidential Skype Therapy service. My aim is to be as flexible as possible for clients and so this option has a number of advantages, such as: allowing access to therapy for those with mobility difficulties and those who are not able and do not have the time to travel to therapy due to work and home commitments. Please email/or call me to discuss this option.

For access to this part of our service, you will need a Skype account, good internet access and a web camera. We suggest that you have access to a quiet and private space, free from distractions, for the 50 minutes our session will last.

At iRise we feel our biggest chance for impact as a therapy service, lies not just in connecting people to valuable ideas, but in providing a safe environment, where they can feel connected and supported in their quest to make profound change. This website gives a little info about myself and how you can book an appointment to see me. Please also have a look at the company website, to learn more about us at iRise, and for some great useful content on and off our site.
