About me

Hi, I’m Ben. If you’re reading my profile, you’ve already taken a brave step toward exploring yourself through counselling. Every person I work with is unique, and together we’ll find the counselling style that best suits your individual needs.

As Ronan Keating once sang, “Life is a rollercoaster, just gotta ride it.” It’s a fitting quote, but sometimes, it’s important to pause the ride, reflect, heal, and regain direction.

Since qualifying as a counsellor, I’ve gained over 500 hours of one-to-one client experience, supporting people with a wide range of mental health needs. My role is to help you understand what’s happening for you, and to draw on different counselling approaches to find the most effective path for achieving what you want from counselling.

Just because I’m a counsellor doesn’t mean I’m any different from you. I work from a Humanistic perspective, focusing on building a professional, supportive, and genuine relationship that meets your needs in the best way possible. My training combines Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Psychodynamic Therapy. While my core approach is Humanistic, I integrate elements of CBT and Psychodynamic techniques to adapt to each client’s unique circumstances.

I find that in-person sessions offer the best opportunity to connect and provide the most supportive space for meaningful change. However, I understand that modern life can be busy and that cost, travel, or personal circumstances can make in-person therapy difficult. For that reason, I also offer online video and telephone sessions when these are better suited to your needs.

I offer a free 30-minute phone consultation so we can discuss your goals for counselling and give you the chance to ask any questions you may have about working with me.

I provide a non-judgmental, safe, and compassionate space where you can talk openly about what’s happening in your life. I often use metaphors and creative techniques to help clients explore and better understand the challenges they’re facing.

I have experience working with anxiety, depression, self-harm, stress, bereavement and loss, OCD, low self-esteem, relationship and family issues, trauma, and general life difficulties. Building a strong therapeutic relationship with each client is at the heart of my practice and is key to a successful outcome.

In-person sessions take place in Cwmbran, in a light and comfortable large room, designed to create a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The space offers a safe and confidential environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. Convenient parking is available nearby for your comfort and accessibility.

If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be privileged to support you on your journey toward understanding and growth.
