About me
I’m Annie, a counsellor offering a calm, confidential space where you can talk openly and be met with warmth, respect, and understanding.
If you’ve never been to counselling before, you might not be sure what to expect. My role is not to judge, analyse, or tell you what to do, but to offer a supportive relationship where you can speak freely and feel heard. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear reason for coming—just a willingness to talk.
My approach is gentle and led by you. Sessions move at your pace and focus on what feels most important in your life. Together, we create space to slow down, reflect, and explore your thoughts, feelings, or experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable.
Humanistic counselling is based on the belief that people naturally move towards growth and change when they are met with understanding and acceptance. I work alongside you, offering empathy and a steady presence, supporting you to reconnect with yourself and find greater clarity and peace over time.
This is a space where you do not need to be fixed or judged—just supported.
How I Work
My work is rooted in a humanistic approach, meaning our sessions focus on you as a whole person rather than a set of problems to be fixed. I aim to offer a genuine, respectful therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly.
Alongside empathy and acceptance, I may gently challenge you at times—by reflecting patterns I notice, naming things that feel important but unspoken, or inviting alternative perspectives. This is always done with care, sensitivity, and respect.
I do not diagnose or direct the work. Instead, I work collaboratively with you, trusting your ability to make sense of your experiences and find your own way forward.
Clients I Work With
I offer humanistic counselling to a diverse range of clients, including:
Neurodivergent Clients
Being neurodivergent myself, I understand the unique challenges and strengths that can come with neurodivergence. I offer a calm, accepting, and structured space, adapting sessions to your pace, sensory needs, and preferred ways of communicating.
Adults Navigating Life Transitions, Grief, and Loss
I support adults experiencing major life changes, including relationship or career transitions, bereavement, and other forms of loss. Our work may involve processing emotions, gaining clarity, and exploring new ways forward while feeling supported and understood.
Young People
I am qualified to work with young people and offer a safe, age-appropriate space to explore emotions, relationships, identity, and life challenges. Sessions are collaborative, non-judgemental, and empowering, helping young people feel heard and respected.
Flexible Ways of Working
Sessions can take place:
- Online
- In a private counselling room within my home
- Outdoors on my land
- In my converted horse box therapy space
- I also offer Equine Assisted Therapy for clients who wish to work with horses as part of their therapeutic process. All sessions are tailored to your needs, comfort, and pace.
Online Counselling
I offer online counselling for clients who prefer to work from their own space or who are not local. Online sessions can offer flexibility while still supporting a meaningful, relational connection. Sessions are held via a secure platform, and we will take time to ensure this way of working feels comfortable and supportive for you.
Room-Based Counselling (Home Setting)
Face-to-face counselling takes place in a private, dedicated room within my home. This space is quiet, calm, and confidential, designed to feel safe and contained. Many clients find that meeting in a consistent physical space supports grounding and focus.
Outdoor Counselling & Equine Assisted Therapy
For clients who feel drawn to working outdoors, I offer nature-based counselling on my land. Sessions may be seated or involve gentle walking, depending on what feels right for you. I also have a converted horse box that provides a sheltered, private space to work from while remaining closely connected to the natural environment.
The land is home to my herd of horses, who may be nearby during sessions. Their presence can be grounding and supportive, and many people find that being in relationship with nature and animals helps them feel more settled and connected.
Alongside humanistic counselling, I also offer Equine Assisted Therapy for clients who wish to work more directly with the horses. This is a distinct way of working and is always discussed in advance. Further information can be found by clicking on the Silver Horse link on my website or at www.silverhorse.uk.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
