About me

My name is Annie and I counsellor and psychotherapist who uses the Person Centred Approach to help my clients reach their therapy goals and fulfill their potential. This means that I work with you and what you are going through to making things easier, to help provide you find a direction and work towards a future that you want.

I know reaching out can make you feel quite vulnerable and it likely means that this is the last thing you want to do. I also understand that speaking with a stranger can almost be easier than speaking honestly with loved ones. As overwhelming, challenging and lonely as what you are going through is, I can be a person who you can speak to about your emotions, thoughts and behaviours.

My aims:

My aim is to build a supportive therapeutic relationship with you, allowing you to have a safe, non-judgemental space where you feel understood and you can be openly expressive with your emotions, thoughts and your situation. As a therapist, I want you to be able to feel comfortable being honest with me and most importantly yourself- therapy is a tool to help discover yourself. I will offer empathy and compassion, striving to help you feel heard. We will work through your issues and your problems together.

The counselling I offer:

The type of counselling I provide is client-led, which means I adapt to your needs and we deeply discuss the issues that you have. I offer 60 minute sessions either online or by telephone- if you wish for the sessions to be longer or shorter than can be discussed.

My training/history:

I trained at the University of Salford where I received my Post-Graduate Diploma (Level 7) in counselling and psychotherapy. I have helped many clients who have experienced a range of different issues, such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, life changes, trauma, grief, relationship problems, sexual assault and domestic abuse.

Together we can openly discuss your emotions, feelings and environment. This will allow us to together understand, explore, process, feel and accept your issues and experiences- this is where real fundamental change can be made.

Initial consultation:

Initially, I will offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation to understand your situation and your therapy needs. Within this time you can also ask any questions and see if I am the right fit for you- it is important that you find a counsellor you feel comfortable working with. If I do not think I can offer what you need, or be an effective counsellor for you, I will say that in this time.

I know that seeking help can be scary and I would like to make this process as easy as possible for you; if you have any specific requirements that will help this, please let me know.

Your counselling journey is yours, and should be done at your pace with your goals being recognised.

My availability:

Life can be quite manic- as such, I can be quite flexible with times in which I can offer sessions. If a time is suitable for you, please reach out as I might be able to be available for you during that time, whether this is morning, afternoon or evening.

Your problems:

I know right now everything might be too much and too overwhelming. But by seeking out help you are beginning a process of change. If you would like, together we can work through what is troubling you to make your problems more manageable. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask- I wish you the best of luck in finding a therapist.

Thank you for reading,

Annie

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
