About me

I have many years of experience counselling individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. I am a fully accredited and registered member of the BACP and hold a Master's Degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling ( Level 7) from Reading University, a leader in mental health training.

I have worked within the NHS and private practice, helping adults with a wide range of difficulties, using the psychodynamic approach. This technique illuminates how earlier experiences may have shaped and affected the way we approach life and relationships, helping us to understand ourselves better and find a way forward towards leading a more fulfilled life. It is suitable whether it is a recent problem that brings you to counselling or perhaps earlier life events.

I have also worked as an integrative therapist within a school setting, a charity  and in private practice.  In addition, I have specialist experience in helping people who have experienced addictions or have addiction related problems and have implemented the 12 step programme.

I provide a confidential, supportive and non-judgemental environment to help with a range of difficulties that can arise in life,  such as:

  • stress or anxiety
  • depression or a general feeling of unhappiness
  • relationships (partner, family or workplace)
  • a crisis or life transition
  • loss or bereavement
  • eating disorders
  • bullying or abuse
  • feelings of anger
  • low self worth or confidence
  • addictions or related issues.

My private practice is conveniently located in central Tunbridge Wells on the Pantiles. It is on the Lower Ground Floor of Royal Victoria House and is easily accessible via a lift or stairs, there is plenty of parking close by.  I also practice in Hawkhurst and offer online sessions. I hold an ACTO approved Diploma in Online Counselling, which is an essential qualification in this field.

Please call or email to arrange an initial consultation. I also offer a free informal telephone discussion to talk about what brings you to counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
