About me

Life for children, young people and families can be really challenging, a fact that has only been made worse by the pandemic. Seeking counselling or therapy for your child or yourself can be a really scary task, but it can also help to resolve the issues that many young people and families face every day.

Being an integrative therapist means I can combine different approaches that work best for individuals. This means I work relationally to build strong and secure attachments, whilst keeping in mind children’s psychological, social, cognitive and biological development. I usually do long term work with children and adolescents. This can be from 12 weeks of work to over 4 years, depending on the presenting issues.

A key part of my work is involving the wider system that the child belongs to. This may be in the form of parental updates and reviews, one-off or targeted parental therapy sessions, working with carers, helping to create secure attachments to support fostering and adoption, working with schools to help the child manage in the classroom and working alongside social workers to ensure the safety of children.

I believe it is essential to involve those important people in the child’s life in their care and psychotherapeutic treatment in order to achieve the best outcomes. You will be asked during your assessment appointment which organisations are involved with you and your family, and how you would like to involve them in the therapeutic process.

I am currently offering online sessions, complete with a virtual therapy room that is suitable for children of all ages.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have many years experience working therapeutically with children and young people, especially when they are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

I am a highly trained therapist. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology (Bsc) and I hold a Masters Degree in Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (MSc UPCA/UKCP accredited). I also have extensive safeguarding knowledge and training.

I have experience providing long term and short term therapy to Children and Adolescents, as well as IAPT counselling (used by the NHS), working alongside schools, children's social care and other local authority organisations. I also have experience working with children with Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP), with a range of diagnoses, disabilities and Special Educational Needs (SEN).

I also have further training working with families, adults and delivering life coaching.
