About me

Hi, my name is Anna Jorgenson and I am a licensed counsellor. I use Gestalt therapy as a foundation to my practice. Gestalt is based on the idea that we are whole, individual beings and through counselling we integrate different parts of ourselves that are responsible for unpleasant repeating scenarios in our lives.

The first step to any change is becoming aware of the ‘here and now.’ What is happening on the inside? What am I thinking? What am I feeling? How is my body responding? This is about catching our automatic responses as they are happening and learning to control them.

You will quickly realise that you are running unconscious patterns that contribute to creating your current situation. These are thinking and behaviour patterns (strategies) picked up during our childhood as a way of having our needs met. While they may have been helpful as a child, they end up holding us back as an adult.

From that awareness we get a choice: do I want to carry on the way things are, or do I want to try something new?

This can be a scary place as it involves letting go of what we are familiar with and stepping into the unknown. This requires some faith and trust in the process. There is no easy fix. We often expect and wait for things to change around us, but the key is for us to restore the balance within. Sometimes even a small change within can make a huge difference in our lives.

Counselling gives the skills to make the change. No matter how stuck we feel or what we are struggling with, we can make some changes to improve our current situation.

However, it is not only about moving through our pains and struggles, it’s about growing and developing as a human being. It’s about restoring balance in our lives, finding our purpose and living our lives to our fullest potential. As a counsellor, I see it is a gift to be able to walk this path with my clients.

I work with both the Polish and British community, and with people as young as 13.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Regular sessions are £60 for 50-minutes long, provided weekly or fortnightly.
