About me
No one understands you better than you.
I offer a safe and judgement free environment where you can bring any issues currently causing you disruption to your life, be that large or small.
I believe that everyone is completely unique and by working together we can come up with a wholly individual path to help you move forward from whatever issues you are currently experiencing.
I work face-to-face, online via WhatsApp video call or phone call sessions, depending on what you are more comfortable with, for anyone aged 18 and over.
Our first session will be a chance to meet and get to know each other before embarking on your journey to improved mental health.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have experience working with a large range of issues covering many areas of mental health, including working as a Specialist Cancer and Psychological Services Counsellor for the NHS and the Wellbeing Counsellor for LGBTQ+ Cymru Helpline. In addition to these specific roles, I have also worked with: depression, anxiety, stress, ADHD, gender dysphoria, body dysmorphia, low self-esteem, panic attacks, addiction (including sex), anger management, emotional abuse, rape, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, self-harm, suicidal ideation (thoughts), trauma, bereavement, personality disorders, PTSD, and cancer related complications.
CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
"I've worked with Andy for nearly 2 years. I was in quite a bad way when I started. I suffer with CPTSD and it was so hard to function on a day-to-day basis. Andy helped me so much with good advice and homework. A great source of encouragement and was given a direction to go in. I had never had that from a counsellor before. Many of my closed doors have now been opened and a new strength to move forwards. I would recommend his counselling services."
"I have been in therapy with Andy for the past year, making significant progress dealing with bereavement, anxiety and past trauma. Over the years I have seen several therapists and never felt comfortable sharing personal information with them. I had extreme difficulty opening up and understanding my anxiety and past trauma. Due to this my issues were never addressed or understood and it was affecting my life on a daily basis. Andy provided a safe and comfortable space in which I felt listened to, never rushed or judged. He was extremely patient and expressed genuine empathy whilst addressing issues that I had held onto for 40+ years. During our sessions we explored the effects unresolved trauma has on the brain but also on the physical reactions which occur within the body. Andy is flexible using a variety of psychological approaches. He displays enthusiasm for how the mind works, in-depth knowledge and experience. We have been on an emotional and at times painful journey together one which I am still on. Working with Andy has provided me with the tools to move forward. I am experiencing a new outlook on life and am able to now process and express emotions which I would have previously suppressed. I cannot thank you highly enough."

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
