About me
Dr Andrew Hedley – Chartered Counselling Psychologist. HCPC Registered (PYL36359) | BPS Chartered Psychologist (341550)
Helping You Navigate Life’s Challenges with Evidence-Based Therapy
Are you feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, low mood, or past experiences? Do you struggle with self-doubt, negative thoughts, or emotional distress? As a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with over 15 years of experience, I provide a safe, collaborative, and personalised space to explore your concerns and work towards meaningful change.
I specialise in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and third-wave approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills training. My approach is always tailored to your unique needs—whether that means using CBT alone, drawing on alternative evidence-based therapies, or combining interventions to create a more integrative approach.
A Tailored Approach to Therapy
As a psychologist trained in multiple therapeutic models, I recognise that no single approach works for everyone.
• For some individuals, CBT may be the best fit, as it is the recommended treatment for many conditions, including anxiety and depression.
• For others, an alternative therapy may be more beneficial—for example, if difficulties are rooted in trauma, self-criticism, or emotional regulation challenges, a different approach such as CFT, ACT, or DBT skills training may be more suitable.
• Many people benefit from an integrated approach—drawing on CBT alongside elements of third-wave therapies to address deeper emotional patterns and achieve the most beneficial outcomes.
My role as a psychologist is to assess your unique needs and tailor therapy accordingly, ensuring that our work together is effective, flexible, and aligned with your goals.
