Andrea Southwell BSc (Hons), MBACP, MIFPA Counsellor and Supervisor
About me
I am a qualified person-centred practitioner, supervisor and holistic therapist. I work face to face and online counselling as required. As a person-centred practitioner I will not advise or tell you what to do or what decisions to make. I will listen in a non-judgemental way, to support you to come to your own conclusions and give you the space in which to talk about any problems or issues you may have, in a safe and confidential environment.
I also work as a person centred supervisor supporting your work as a counsellor, trainee counsellor or other health and social care worker in a professional and ethical manner. Working together to support you, your clients, your future working career and CPD.
I work from home where I have a lovely welcoming therapy room in which you can discuss any worries or problems you may have without the fear of anyone else listening. I specialise in anxiety, self esteem issues and work with inner child therapy.
If required I also incorporate my holistic experience into the therapy to aid relaxation and help release memories and thoughts that may have been suppressed for periods of time. For example the use of Reiki or Aromatherapy oils can help reduce anxiety and grief during the counselling process. I also use meditation if together we decide if this would be of benefit to the sessions.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Testimonials
I can recommend Andrea as she is kind and caring which makes her good at what she does. I go for regular treatments and find it a wonderful experience, that treats the whole person. Margaret, Burnley
Andrea is friendly, conscientious, professional, well qualified and always willing to discuss the different treatments she offers and will give feedback when asked. She gives timely reminders for appointments, which I find helpful and more importantly the treatments are beneficial and always leave me feeling totally relaxed and de-stressed.

Andrea is completely non-judgemental and trustworthy in her counselling approach. I feel I can talk about anything that is bothering me at the time. The environment is warm, relaxing, professional and friendly.
