About me

I'm Dr Andre Etchebarne, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist. My clinical focus is on the psychological impact of chronic pain, injury, and long-term illness, an area I've worked in extensively across the NHS.

I draw on evidence-based approaches to help clients move out of survival mode and back toward a life that feels like their own, processing what's been lost and rebuilding a genuine sense of control.

Alongside my clinical work, I'm Placement Director and Lecturer in Counselling Psychology at the University of Manchester, and a member of the BPS Training Committee for Counselling Psychology. I'm also on the BPS register of supervisors and offer clinical supervision to trainees and qualified practitioners.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a Practitioner Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

I hold a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from The University of Manchester. My clinical specialism is in chronic pain, and I have extensive experience working within the NHS supporting people with the psychological impact of pain, injury, and long-term illness.

Alongside clinical practice, I am Placement Director and Lecturer in Counselling Psychology at the University of Manchester, teaching on the Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, and I sit on the British Psychological Society's Training Committee for Counselling Psychology. I am also listed on the BPS Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors and provide clinical supervision to trainees and qualified practitioners.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
