Dr Anastasios Argyropoulos
We all face life’s adversities, conflicts, paradoxes and challenges and the ways in which we deal with these can be invaluably informative. Therapy can help us become a creative source of possibilities, conscious and active in the shaping of our life-stories.
I have received extensive training in a variety of working models and theories that inform my work. Working with you, I will utilise my practical and theoretical knowledge, and above all, I will aim to create a containing therapeutic relationship and provide a safe space so that past and present, feelings, emotions and thoughts can be explored empathically and in-depth. I see authenticity, openness, compassion, creativity and reflexivity as integral in my work. Adaptability to your unique personality, life experiences and needs as well as respect towards your autonomy is paramount.
I have substantial clinical experience having worked in psychiatric and third sector organisations as well as in consulting and higher education. Through my private practice in Central and West London i work with adults on short and long term contracts.
The initial consultation with me in a non-judgemental, friendly environment is an opportunity to talk about your difficulties and expectations, and to explore what may feel like an appropriate way to work (fees, frequency of sessions and suitable interventions are discussed). If I assess that my way of working is not appropriate for you, I will endeavour to refer you to a colleague.
If you are a busy professional, you can contact me to enquire about the weekend and pre-work (early morning) clinic.
Online therapy: I also specialize in online and remote treatment, seeing clients internationally and offering continuity of care for people on the go and for those in remote locations who may not otherwise have access to quality care.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a counselling psychologist and an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist with over 15 years of clinical experience in the U.K. and abroad. In parallel with my private practice, I am a tutor in various academic courses and I work in the NHS where I supervise the work of other colleagues. In addition, I am an active researcher involved in the wider applications of psychology and psychotherapy in society and I am regularly contracted by organisations to consult on behaviour and change management.
I have been trained in different psychotherapeutic modalities which inform my integrative/relational approach to counselling. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and of the British Psychological Society.
