About me

I am an Integrative Counsellor with a warm, empathic and collaborative approach, working in both BS2 and BS5. My humanistic training means that I am led by you with regard to the topics we discuss and the pace at which we work.

I endeavour to empower, give you agency and am able to integrate different therapeutic theories and approaches to best suit you as an individual. While working as a therapist, I have supported clients exploring issues such as trauma, bereavement, gender and sexual identity, relationship issues, depression, anxiety and sexual assault.

Whether you would like to process a particular event, explore difficult feelings, or delve deeper into your psychology, all of you is welcome in the therapy room. My work is informed by my yoga practice which has taught me that our emotional experiences are often stored in the body and shown me how movement can support us to process these.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a particular interest in working with trauma as well as questions of identity and belonging. I hold a diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling from the Bath Centre of Psychotherapy and Counselling and have completed further Somatic Trauma Therapy training.

As well as my therapeutic training, I have worked in the refugee sector for over a decade, which has included casework and managerial roles. I currently work as a therapist for two charities offering trauma therapy to refugees and asylum seekers in the South West alongside my private practice. I also have experience of working with young people at an intersectional therapy centre with a focus on attachment and with adults with substance misuse concerns.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
