About me
Hi, I’m Amy – and I’m really glad you’re here.
Life gets heavy sometimes. Grief doesn’t wait until you’re ready. Anxiety shows up uninvited. And being strong all the time? Exhausting.
That’s where I come in.
I’m a counsellor with over 12 years’ experience helping children, young people and adults navigate the big feelings, the tangled thoughts, and the silent worries that keep you up at night. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, lost or just a little frayed at the edges – you’re not alone. I’m here to walk beside you, not to fix you. You’re not broken. You’re human. And you deserve support that feels honest, kind, and actually useful.
What I Offer
- A space where you can breathe, cry, laugh or just sit quietly
- No judgement, no jargon
- Therapy that meets you where you are
- Support for when life is falling apart – or when you're just not sure what's wrong
I specialise in grief and bereavement, but my work stretches far beyond that. I support people through anxiety, burnout, life changes, family breakdowns, confidence dips, and that gut-deep feeling of “something’s not right.”
And if you’ve tried therapy before and thought “this isn’t working for me” – let’s try again. My clients often say they feel seen, heard, and finally understood.
Who I Work With
Children & Young People
Children don’t always have the words – but they still feel everything. I use play, creativity, and conversation to help children process tricky emotions, build confidence, and feel safe enough to be themselves. I offer therapy in schools, online, or in person – wherever works best for you.
Adults
Maybe you’re carrying grief you never got to unpack. Maybe you’re managing everyone else’s needs and forgetting your own. Maybe you’re just… done. You don’t have to have a crisis to come to therapy. If you're feeling low, lost or like you're running on empty – we can start there.
Grief Support & Training
Grief changes everything. I specialise in bereavement and complicated loss, offering both personal support and professional training for schools and workplaces. Whether you’re grieving someone or supporting others who are, I bring warmth, clarity and practical tools to help you carry it.
Trainee Counsellors & New Practitioners
Starting out in private practice? I’ve got you. I mentor counsellors who want to feel more confident, more grounded, and less overwhelmed by “all the things.” Let’s make space for you in your work.
What to Expect
Therapy with me is down-to-earth, human, and shaped entirely around you. Sessions last up to 50 minutes and can be weekly, fortnightly or flexibly arranged. You don’t need to be in crisis, and you don’t need to have all the words – just a willingness to show up and be real.
For younger clients, sessions are age-appropriate and playful. For adults, they’re often a mix of talking things through, making space for emotion, and gently exploring what’s going on underneath it all.
Why Work With Me?
- Over 12 years’ experience across schools, charities and private practice
- Specialist in grief, anxiety, and early intervention
- Trusted by schools, families and fellow professionals
- Flexible sessions: online, phone, in-person, or school-based
- Warm, relatable, and just the right amount of structured
Confidentiality & Trust
Everything we talk about stays between us. For children and teens, I always explain confidentiality clearly and work to build trust both with the young person and their family. If safety concerns arise, we’ll handle them with care and clarity.
One Last Thing…
If you’re here wondering if this might help, it probably means something inside you is already ready for change. You don’t have to hit rock bottom to reach out. You don’t need to have the words. Just bring yourself – messy, brilliant, tired, hopeful – and let’s begin.
You’re not too much. You’re not too late.
And you don’t have to do this alone.
Training, qualifications & experience
I currently work as a private therapist for children, young people and adults across the UK and within several local schools in East Yorkshire. .
My academic training includes a BSc Degree in Psychology from Hull University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from York St John University.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
