About me

You may be capable, driven and used to coping, yet find yourself increasingly anxious, overwhelmed or exhausted. Perhaps you overthink, put pressure on yourself to get things right, struggle to switch off, or feel that however much you achieve, it never quite feels enough.

I’m Amy Lovegrove, a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. I offer warm, practical and evidence-based CBT for adults experiencing anxiety, stress, perfectionism, low self-esteem, depression and trauma-related difficulties, as well as those navigating significant life changes.

CBT can help us understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, physical responses and behaviours. Together, we’ll identify the patterns that may be keeping you stuck and develop practical strategies to help you respond differently.

My approach is collaborative, down-to-earth and tailored to you. Therapy remains structured and goal-focused, but you won’t be expected to fit into a one-size-fits-all approach. We’ll work at a pace that feels manageable while focusing on meaningful changes you can continue to use beyond therapy.

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel difficult, particularly if you’re usually the person who copes. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, feel understood and begin to find a healthier way forward.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with over 20 years’ experience working across mental health and psychological services. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies Practice (High Intensity CBT) from the University of Exeter – Cedar.

I use evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to support adults experiencing anxiety, depression and low mood, stress, worry and overthinking, perfectionism, low self-esteem, trauma-related difficulties and significant life changes.

My approach is warm, collaborative and practical. Together, we’ll understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck and identify realistic strategies to help you respond differently. Therapy is tailored to you while remaining structured and goal-focused, with skills you can continue to use beyond therapy.

I regularly undertake continuing professional development to maintain and develop my clinical knowledge and practice.

Further information

I understand that taking the first step towards therapy can sometimes feel daunting. You may not know exactly what you need or where to start, and that is completely okay. We can explore this together and identify what would be most helpful for you.

I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental approach, while also providing practical tools and strategies that you can use in everyday life. My aim is not simply to help you feel better in the short term, but to help you develop a better understanding of yourself and build skills that you can continue to draw on in the future.

I believe that therapy works best when we work collaboratively towards goals that are meaningful to you. Everyone's circumstances and experiences are different, so I tailor our work to your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

If you are considering therapy but are unsure whether CBT is right for you, please feel free to get in touch to discuss how I may be able to help.
