About me

My aim is to welcome you into a warm, non-judgemental, safe space, where together, we can explore any difficulties you may be experiencing. I understand that the idea of therapy can be daunting, especially if it's your first time, however, I sincerely believe that by creating a trusting, therapeutic relationship, you will be successful on your journey of self-discovery.

In today’s world, unfortunately, so many of us are struggling with stress, burnout, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, and trauma, that it has become a normal part of our daily lives, however, it doesn’t have to be this way.

Although mental health awareness has come a long way in recent years, there is often still a misconception that an individual must have severe issues to seek counselling. Whilst many people may have deep rooted issues they need to work through, others may simply seek a safe space to ‘check in’ with themselves as a form of self-care, feeling free to explore their feelings with someone who is unbiased and detached from their life. To me, there is no such thing as a problem “Too big” or “Too small”.

My Approach

I truly believe that you are an expert on yourself, which is why I predominantly work using an Integrative Person-Centred approach, as it is a non-directive, client-led model. By working in this way, I can help you to explore your emotions, behaviours, and beliefs so you can gain clarity on any issues you may be experiencing, as well as gaining a greater sense of self-awareness. However, I understand that everyone is unique, therefore I will draw upon various models and techniques to tailor sessions to best meet the needs of the individual.

I also have a keen interest in exploring the mind-body connection, due to the ever-increasing evidence that our mental health can impact our physical health, and vice versa. It is for this reason that I am furthering my training in holistic therapies, such as mindfulness, meditation, and movement, to broaden my knowledge and offer a variety of techniques to clients to aid their overall health.

I appreciate that embarking on a counselling journey can feel incredibly daunting, and I believe that in order to gain the most benefit from the experience, it is essential that you ‘click’ with your counsellor. It is for this reason that I offer a discounted rate of £25 for our first session, so we can discuss how we can work together and if we will be a good fit.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
