About me

I aim to provide you with a safe space within which together we can explore what is not working in life for you and causing upset right now, no matter how big or how small.

I am an experienced professional therapeutic Counsellor who has worked with many issues - anxiety, depression, relationships difficulties, loss, abuse, lack of confience, anger and irritability , the impact of illness and more.Counselling gives you the opportunity to work through and explore why you feel the way you do and look at how to make changes for a more fulfiliing way forward. You will gain greater self awareness and insight into who you are which assists positive change and resolution of your problems.

I can provide an empathetic, safe and confidential space to explore your difficulties whatever they are without judgement.Life difficulties can catch up with us either suddenly or gradually. I feel moved by the courage it takes making the first step to enter into therapy.Thoughts and feelings can sometimes be difficult to manage alone.I will provide you the space to talk in confidence with an empathetic approach showing you gentleness and sensitivity. Life can be so busy and fast paced we get swept along, sometimes issues from the past remain with us and impact on the present, we become unable to deal with what's happening in our lives. Current changes in circumstances or health leave us feeling unable to cope. If you are looking at this website you have taken the first step to get help and explore what's going on for you in order to make changes.I am here for you.

I also have experience in couples counselling and provide sessions to look at relationship difficulties that you are experiencing, which can be having a negative impact on your ability to feel happiness.

I have worked with people and their life problems for over thirty years. Initially in nursing and then I also trained as a Counsellor to gain greater understanding of the psychological aspects of people's needs. Both professions enable me to support change and make a difference for people who are finding life difficult. It takes courage to reach out for help and I am here to listen and support you through this challenging time.

I can offer you a space to explore your thoughts and feelings and look at how you want things to change, in a safe, empathic and non-judgemental environment. I will listen and reflect objectively. As a Counsellor I will not advise, we can work together to look at what is causing your upset and work towards bringing about change for a more fulfilling future.

You can contact me by phone text or email to arrange an initial session to see how you feel.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I believe the most important aspect of entering Counselling is the therapeutic relationship you have with your therapist. You need to feel safe and comfortable to be able to discuss your problems.

Following an initial assessment it is for you to decide together whether I am able to help you and if you feel comfortable to work with me. There needs to be a feeling of trust and safety between us.
