About me
Whether you are looking for support for your teenge child or for yourself, finding the right person to speak to can make all the difference. I have extensive experience working with teenagers and adults across a wide range of difficulties and life experiences. No two people or families are the same, which is why I take time to understand the indivdual behind the difficulties they are facing. No issues is too big or too small.
My approach is compassionate and non-judgemental. I believe it can be useful to understand what happened to us, rather than seeing ourselves as the problem. Whether you or your young person has experienced trauma or is simply finding life difficult right now, I draw on warmth, empathy and creativity to build connections, help you feel understood and support you to move forward.
It is easy to get trapped in our own minds , imagining that we can think our way out of psychological or emotional discomfort, when our thought patterns have often become part of the problem. In our sessions we will work together to recognise what is holding you back, what no longer serves you or is causing you pain and explore ways towards greater self- acceptance and confidence.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked with young people for over 30 years. Before becoming a therapist my background was in teaching and safeguarding. Being passionate about young people's mental health led me to set up and lead a Mental Health provision in a large urban secondary school where I worked as the school counsellor and Mental Health Lead. This gave me experience of working with young people from diverse backgrounds, supporting them with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
I am trauma- informed and have taken additional training in developmental and relational trauma. I have also worked for an agency supporting women who have experienced childhood sexual abuse. This experience deepened my understanding of the impact that trauma can have on how we see ourselves, particularly feelings of shame, guilt and self- blame.
Whether someone has experienced trauma or is simply finding life difficult, counselling can offer a space to pause, make sense of what is happening and to begin to find a way forward.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
