About me

Perhaps you've found yourself overthinking, feeling emotionally overwhelmed, questioning your self-worth or struggling to cope with the demands of work, relationships or caring responsibilities. You may feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, yet find it difficult to know how to move forward.

I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where we can explore what is happening beneath the surface. Together, we can make sense of your experiences, understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop new ways of responding to life's challenges.

Alongside supporting adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, burnout, grief, relationship difficulties and life transitions, I have a particular interest in working with parents and carers of neurodivergent children. Many parents spend so much time supporting others that their own needs are pushed aside, leaving them feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and alone.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Master of Science (MSc) in Marital and Family Therapy from California State University, Dominguez Hills and a Master's degree in Mild to Moderate Special Education. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Alongside my psychotherapy training, I have over 20 years of experience working in education in both the UK and the United States, supporting children, young people and families with a wide range of emotional, behavioural and developmental needs.

My therapeutic training includes person-centred counselling, Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and CBT-informed approaches. I regularly engage in continuing professional development and clinical supervision to support safe and ethical practice.

My combined experience in psychotherapy and education has given me a strong understanding of the challenges that individuals and families can face, as well as the importance of feeling heard, understood and supported when navigating difficult life circumstances.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Starting therapy can feel daunting, particularly if this is your first experience of counselling. You may also have had a previous experience of therapy that didn't feel helpful or where you didn't feel fully understood. My aim is to create a space where you feel heard, understood and accepted without judgement.

I believe that therapy is most effective when it is built on a genuine therapeutic relationship. While we cannot always change difficult circumstances, we can develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and learn new ways of responding to life's challenges.

I integrate person-centred counselling with behavioural approaches, including ACT and FAP. This means we may explore not only your thoughts and emotions but also the patterns and behaviours that may be keeping you stuck. Together, we can work towards greater self-awareness, emotional flexibility and meaningful change.
