About me

Struggling to repair after an affair? Repeating the same fight over and over ? Feeling criticised, blamed and judged?  Feeling like housemates rather than partners even though you still love each other . If so, healing and lasting connection are still possible.

Imago relationship therapy is a practical, structured and proved way to help couples out of distance and tension into lasting connection.

As you work with me I will:

  • Help you to reconnect with the positive in your relationship
  • teach you Imago dialogue, a simple communication tool which will help you to hear and understand your partner, even when their perspective is very different to yours
  • teach you how to express difficult things safely without criticism, blame or judgement.
  • help you identify the things that happen between you that get in the way of you connecting with each other.
  • help you to understand what is going on below the surface in those fights you keep having and then vulnerably communicate your needs to each other.
  • Help you to understand why you react the way you do when you feel criticized or threatened and teach you new ways to respond that will help your partner to hear you

Working with me you will gradually …

  • communicate more effectively
  • understand each other more deeply
  • reconnect emotionally
  • experience healing of old relationship wounds
  • rediscover love and joy in your relationship.

Does that feel too much to hope for right now? That’s ok, it is my job to hold the hope for you until you have hope again.  It is not easy to get there, it takes courage, vulnerability, and a willingness by both of you to stretch and grow into new behaviour, but it is absolutely possible, and I will support you to get there.

If you would like to book a session or explore working together please call or email. If emailing please also give your mobile number.

If you think I might be able to help just drop me a line  if you have daytime flexibility it is much easier to find available appointments) or give me a call.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a 1st Class degree in Counselling and over 10 years counselling experience. I am Certified Imago Relationship Counsellor (Imago is a specialist form of therapy developed for couples) and an Advanced Practitioner in Imago. I am also trained in Interpersonal mediation and Restorative Justice Facilitation. I began my professional career as a Solicitor specialising in Family Law and spent 6 years supporting people through all aspects of relationship breakdown and gaining an insight into the emotional and financial cost of divorce. I therefore have a wealth of experience in the area of relationships and relationship conflict which I now bring to my work with couples.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
