About me

Dip. Counselling, MBACP, PGCE Education

If you are seeking a safe, supportive space to explore life's challenges, you are welcome!  I'm Ally, a humanistic counsellor originally from N.Ireland and now based in South Wales. I work online with clients in Wales and across the UK.

I understand that reaching out for support can be daunting, especially when it feels overwhelming or uncertain. You may feel stuck, unsure of where to begin, or simply in need of someone to talk things through with. Taking the first step in an act of courage, and you do not need to have everything figured out before you start.

My priority is to offer a a therapeutic space where you feel at ease, heard and can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences without judgement. I am committed to providing an inclusive, respectful and affirming environment, and I warmly welcome clients from all backgrounds. Whoever you are, your story is welcome here.

My counselling approach is based on person-centred, humanistic principles, and I integrate a range of therapeutic modalities to ensure our work aligns with your needs. We will work together in a way that feels supportive for you.

Whether you are processing painful experiences, navigating current difficulties, or exploring your identity and future direction, I would be honoured to walk alongside you.

Alongside my private work,  I work as a volunteer counsellor within a mental health  organisation’s counselling service.  This work allows me to work within the community in supporting individuals with a wide range of human struggles. I have experience supporting individuals with a wide range of emotional and psychological concerns, including bereavement and loss, stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, domestic abuse, suicidal ideation, relationship difficulties, identity and self‑worth, abuse, unhealthy coping patterns, and life transitions.

I am deeply passionate about promoting and supporting positive mental health, and I tailor the therapeutic process to meet you where you are at on your own individual journey.

If you feel ready to take the next step I invite you to reach out and we can book in a free introductory call. This is an informal chat with no obligation.  It’s  an opportunity to have a chat, explore your goals for therapy, and see whether we are a good fit to work together.

I work online and offer sessions and currently offer sessions late afternoons/evenngs and some weekend availability.

I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you on your journey of growth and well‑being.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
