About me

Dip. Counselling, MBACP, PGCE Education

I’m Ally, a humanistic counsellor originally from Northern Ireland and now based in Swansea. I currently work remotely and offer evening online sessions to clients across the UK.

My counselling approach integrates a range of therapeutic modalities and tools, allowing us to work in a way that feels right for you. I aim to create a supportive enivroment where you feel heard, understood and free to explore whatever you are facing without judgment.

I offer a respectful, affirming, and inclusive space that welcomes people of all identities and backgrounds, including those who are neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and from diverse cultures and communities.

Whether you are navigating past experiences, current challenges, or hopes for the future, I am here to support you in developing deeper self‑awareness, resilience, understanding and connection to yourself and the experiences that you have had to journey through.

Alongside my private work,  I work as a volunteer counsellor within a mental health  organisation’s counselling service. I have experience supporting individuals with a wide range of emotional and psychological concerns, including bereavement and loss, stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, domestic abuse, suicidal ideation, relationship difficulties, identity and self‑worth, abuse, unhealthy coping patterns, and life transitions.

I am passionate about promoting and supporting positive mental health and well‑being, and I tailor the therapeutic process to meet you where you are at on your own indivudal journey.

To support those with busy schedules, I offer online evening appointments.

If you feel ready, I invite you to reach out and book an introductory call. This informal conversation comes with no obligation. It’s simply an opportunity to explore your goals for therapy and see whether we are a good fit to work together.

I look forward to connecting with you and supporting you on your journey of growth and well‑being.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
