Alison Henderson - BA Hons, PGCE, MBACP
Counselling and psychotherapy can seem mysterious to many clients, at first. My aim is to clarify the process and make it as accessible and collaborative as possible. My approach is integrative; every client is different and we work together accordingly.
I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where it will be possible for you to explore your concerns with relationships, work; anxiety; depression; bereavement or other emotional difficulties with the aim of rebalancing and empowering you.
Based in a peaceful, private setting on the seafront in Walmer which is easily accessible from Sandwich, Canterbury and Dover. Free parking is available.
Assessment and working together
Initial contact is usual either by email or a telephone call. I will invite you for a half-hour session, free of charge, to decide whether therapy would be beneficial to you and, if so, to explore some goals for the work. You will normally have completed a questionnaire prior to this meeting which will give me further information with which to work. If we decide to go ahead, we will meet on a weekly basis, usually at a pre-agreed day and time.
I would normally expect you to commit to an initial six sessions of work, after which time we will review what progress has been made so far. We can decide to commit to a further set of sessions or, if the work is more complex, agree to an open-ended contract.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
