About me

When you`re worried, anxious or down, it can be just at those times when it feels so difficult to reach out and ask for help. Talking regularly in a confidential setting with a qualified therapist might just be of value to you

Regular once weekly sessions (either face to face or online) with a counsellor offers you a chance to talk through your worries; think about where you are right now; find out more about yourself and, over time, give you more choices about your future

I am a qualified and accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist. I offer face to face and online psychotherapy for adults who are looking for help with emotional and psychological problems

I work in Mudeford, Christchurch, Dorset both face to face and online. I also have a consulting room in SW17, Tooting, London where I work on line only.  I am currently taking referrals.

I am experienced in helping individuals with emotional and psychological problems. In my previous career, for over 25 years, I worked in the social services and criminal justice sectors.

I have a private practice in Christchurch, Dorset where I meet clients face to face and online (Zoom/Facetime/What`s App). I also see clients on line only in London SW17. Prior to this, for many years, I worked as an honorary psychodynamic psychotherapist at South West London and St George`s Mental Health Trust

I am particularly interested in the impact of boarding school on individuals. I am experienced in problems of addiction including food and eating disorders, alcohol and drug use; and I have a special interest in depression and anxiety

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at Wpf Therapy, one of the leading psychodynamic/psychoanalytic training schools in the UK.

I hold a post graduate diploma in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice from Roehampton University which is validated by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I am a registered professional member of the following organisations:

  • British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)
  • The Foundation for Counselling and Psychotherapy (FPC)

As a professional member of these bodies I comply with the ethical and professional standards of the BPC, the British Association for Counselling the Psychotherapy (BACP) and the United Kingdom of Counselling and Psychotherapy (UKCP).

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
