About me

Hello, I’m Alishia, a qualified integrative counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting, especially when you have been carrying difficult thoughts, emotions, or experiences on your own for a long time. My aim is to provide a warm, non-judgemental, and supportive space where you can explore whatever is troubling you at your own pace.

I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, narcissistic abuse, relationship issues, people-pleasing, emotional abuse, grief, life transitions, and the lasting impact of difficult childhood experiences. I have a particular interest in trauma-informed practice and understanding how past experiences can continue to influence our thoughts, feelings, relationships, and sense of self.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches, including person-centred, psychodynamic, Gestalt, CBT, and Inner Child work. This allows me to tailor therapy to your individual needs, recognising that no two people experience challenges in exactly the same way.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and client-led. I believe that meaningful change can happen when we feel truly heard, understood, and accepted. Whether you are looking to process past experiences, gain insight into recurring patterns, or simply find a space to talk openly, I am here to support you on your journey.

I offer online and telephone counselling sessions, providing a safe and confidential environment where you can explore your experiences and work towards the changes that matter most to you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified integrative counsellor with a BA (Hons) in Counselling and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am committed to maintaining high professional standards through ongoing continuing professional development (CPD), regular clinical supervision, and ethical practice.

My core training is integrative, drawing upon Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Gestalt, and CBT approaches. This enables me to adapt therapy to each individual’s unique experiences and needs.

Alongside my core qualification, I have undertaken additional training and professional development in areas including:

  • Trauma-informed practice
  • Understanding and working with anxiety
  • OCD tendencies
  • PTSD
  • Self-esteem and self-worth difficulties
  • Relationship difficulties and attachment patterns
  • Emotional abuse and narcissistic relationship dynamics
  • Stress management and emotional wellbeing
  • Working with neurodiversity, including ADHD awareness

My professional experience includes supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, low self-confidence, relationship challenges, people-pleasing patterns, emotional abuse, and difficulties linked to past experiences. I work in a way that recognises the impact of life experiences on emotional wellbeing while helping clients develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and self-compassion.

I am fully insured, ICO registered, and committed to providing a safe, confidential, and professional counselling service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I understand that finding the right counsellor is an important decision. The relationship between counsellor and client is one of the strongest factors in successful therapy, which is why I offer a free initial consultation. This gives us an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to counselling, explore how I may be able to support you, and determine whether we feel we are a good fit to work together.

I provide a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about your experiences. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges, counselling can offer a space to feel heard, understood, and supported.

Sessions are available online and by telephone, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own environment. I work with adults aged 18 and over and tailor therapy to your individual needs, recognising that every person’s story and journey are unique.

If you have any questions before booking, please feel free to get in touch. I am always happy to discuss how counselling works and whether my approach is right for you.
