About me

I am a counsellor working in Private Practice online. I understand that sometimes we can get caught up in old cycles of behaviour that can severely affect our relationships (with ourselves and others), in ways we find difficult to understand or manage. We will work together to understand how these behaviours, which may once have been vital in helping you to survive difficult circumstances, may now be limiting you.  We will look at how you might make other choices for yourself.

I also work with adults around issues of adoption, fostering or special guardianship. I have a Certificate in Adoption Support for Adults, a specialist post qualifying training provided by the Albany Centre in partnership with Barnardos.

I provide a supportive, compassionate environment which allows you to explore whatever challenges you are experiencing with warmth and honesty. We will work together to create a space in which you feel safe enough to talk openly and without fear of judgement to get a sense of your experience and see it in context.

Making the decision to come to counselling can feel overwhelming and takes courage. Research has also shown that there is a connection between the strength of the therapeutic relationship and outcomes in therapy, for this reason I suggest that potential clients have an ‘initial session’ with me. This is a no-obligation, 50-minute paid for session, which takes place online. If you want to get a sense of me before committing to an initial session I also offer a free, 15 minute zoom call.

If you have any questions please do feel free to contact me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
