About me

I will work with whatever issue you bring. Perhaps you are struggling with low mood, anxiety, relational difficulties or loss or maybe you are dissatisfied with the life you find yourself leading and you just want some time and help to think things through. My concern is to offer a safe space where it is ok to ‘feel’ your feelings – where you can ‘be’ and ‘become’. It takes courage to come to counselling but it can be truly transformative.  I will walk beside you as you take a step towards who you long to be and if you don’t know who that person is, we can work it out together.

I work in a psychodynamic way which means that I am interested in our habitual ways of behaving and being and how our history can sometimes play out in our present. While our past shapes us it does not need to determine who we are. I will draw on a range of theoretical frameworks and tools, including creative, body work and mindfulness. Sometimes simply having the space and time to share your story without judgment results in freedom and growth.

As a registered member of the BACP, I comply with their ethical framework for good practice, which means I have regular supervision and attend on-going training. I am also fully DBS checked. I enjoy working face to face but can also work online if that is your preference.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Level 4 diploma in Counselling Practice and a certificate in Online Counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
