About me
I support adults who feel emotionally overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. Many of my clients are navigating family expectations, cultural or faith-based pressures, relationship difficulties, life transitions, low mood, or the pressure to keep functioning while struggling inside. My approach is warm, collaborative, and culturally sensitive. Together, we can explore what is weighing on you, strengthen self-understanding, and develop healthier boundaries, coping strategies, and a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
As an African British Muslim woman, mother, elder sibling, high achiever, and career woman, I know how easy it can be to carry many roles while quietly feeling anxious, exhausted, or disconnected from yourself. Many of my clients are used to being strong for others, but struggle to make space for their own needs. Therapy with me offers a reflective and supportive space to understand what you are carrying and begin giving yourself permission to prioritise your wellbeing.
At InnerStead Therapy, I specialise in supporting adults navigating anxiety, low mood, trauma, relationship difficulties, cultural/family expectations and emotional overwhelm. Using a warm, integrative and culturally sensitive approach, I help you understand your patterns, set healthier boundaries, manage emotions and reconnect with yourself.
You may be used to holding everything together while feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, or disconnected inside. At InnerStead Therapy, we can work together at your pace to explore what is weighing on you, understand your patterns, and build healthier ways of coping, relating, and caring for yourself. When you feel ready, I would be glad to support you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a British-trained psychotherapeutic counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I hold a BSc (Hons) in Counselling and Coaching and an MSc in Psychology, both awarded with distinction.
My clinical work is informed by integrative training, combining person-centred, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural approaches. I have experience supporting young people and adults with a range of emotional and mental health difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, emotional dysregulation, relational difficulties, and the lasting effects of difficult or traumatic life experiences.
Alongside therapeutic practice, I also have a strong interest in research and psychological well-being within underrepresented communities. My work is grounded in empathy, cultural awareness, and a genuine commitment to creating a safe and respectful therapeutic relationship.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I recognise that starting therapy can feel like a significant step, particularly if you are used to coping alone or have found it difficult to open up in the past. I believe therapy should feel collaborative, safe, and paced according to your needs.
I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and aim to offer a culturally sensitive and inclusive space where all parts of your identity and experience can be explored with care. My approach is especially helpful for those who may look as though they are coping on the outside while internally feeling anxious, exhausted, disconnected, or emotionally burdened.
If you are seeking a therapist who will listen with warmth, think with you carefully, and support you at your own pace, I would be honoured to walk alongside you.
