Ailsa Thomson, BSc, MSc, MBACP
At different times in our lives we go through challenges that can affect how we feel and have a negative impact on us. We all have unique ways of dealing with situations. With Covid-19 impacting on us all, I currently offer telephone appointments only at this time. If you are NHS or another key worker, I will do my best to accommodate your needs outside my usual working hours.
What I do
I am a Person Centered Counsellor and Psychotherapist and I can offer you that safe space where you will be met with empathy, respect and genuineness as we explore your journey together.
What happens next
You can call or email me to set up an initial session. We can talk about what you want to get out of counselling. If you decide to continue, we would meet on weekly basis from there.
Training, qualifications & experience
Have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and an MSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am also a member of the BACP.
How I can be of help
Whatever your distress, I am here to offer therapeutic support. Listed below are some of the issues I can help with.
Anxiety, Depression, Self-esteem, Stress, Bereavement, Loss, Addictions, Eating Disorders, Phobias, Self-harm, Cultural Issues, Identity issues, Trauma as well as coping with the challenges associated with physical issues.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Initially, I would offer you a brief consultation by phone to discuss your needs. My sessions are £45 for 50 minutes.
If you would like to ask me anything further, please feel free to give me a call.
